Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
Quote:
The Charlotte Bobcats want to bring back Jeff McInnis as backup point guard, but it's no given the two sides will agree on a salary.
Bobcats executive vice president Bernie Bickerstaff and McInnis' agent, Steve Kauffman, had discussions Monday about a one-year contract. A Charlotte native, McInnis came to the Bobcats in a January trade from the New Jersey Nets .
He would back up Raymond Felton, after the Bobcats chose to buy out the final season on Brevin Knight's contract.

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
I guess this is the best we can do unless we want to throw out more money then we were giving BK. Seriously though, how many teams, other then us, do you think are considering him? My bet is 0 so he better not be getting more then the minimum

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
McInnis would never see the floor on a good team in meaningful situations. That shows you at once that we're not going to be a good team and the reason is that we don't have a competent front office. There's absolutely no valid excuse for this sort of self-inflicted debacle.

Agreed. He'll mostly likely be signed back for pretty much nothing

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
Doesn't make much sense that we would get rid of BK because he's a team cancer and then bring back McInnis. I don't think Bobby Brown could handle playing 10 min a game but I'd rather take a chance on him then bring McInnis back. It's not like McInnis playing those 10 minutes a game instead of Brown is going to get us into the playoffs.
I can understand us not picking a big at 22 because there wasn't any worth that pick but we obviously knew we were going to buyout BK because the rumors were going around for awhile before the draft so why didn't we just pick a PG at 22.

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
Dudley never made any sense period...Not at 22 at least. If he's still there in the second round that's one thing, but we had definite needs and there were players available at 22 that could have really helped us.Honestly if we had a competent front office they'd have never made the Richardson trade without at the least making them swap the 18th pick for the 22nd pick.We could have Bellinelli who would have allowed us to let Carroll go and saved all the money he cost us or we could have taken Crittendon who could have backed up both guard positions or we could have taken Jason Smith who may have been able to start at center for us.Any one of those guys would have been able to make big impacts on this team.I don't think Dudley is even going to turn out to be an NBA player personally.

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
This is a pretty stupid move . The guy has been a locker room cancer for nearly every team he has played on. He got in trouble with the Clippers / Blazers / Cavs / and the
Nets would not even let him on the grounds of their training facility when it was all said and done. Now , they are going to bring him on board again with a new 1st year coach , etc.
Moreso, he stunk last year for the Bobcats ........ 3FG = 12.5% / FT = 68.8%
I know he is Jordon ( N. Carolina ) Alum and all but he is a trouble-maker waiting to happen , just check his past , etc.
Better off going with a " good " guy like a Keith McLeod and/or Mike Wilks who have a good track record playing for Jerry Sloan and Mike Popovich and have much better STATS from the 2006-2007 season .

McInnis? Around young players? As a veteran influence?
Is it just me or does it strike you as a recipie for mediocrity?

Re: Bobcats want to re-sign McInnis
Regardless of all the basketball reasons for not signing him I'm shocked that this was even considered with Phil Ford still on the coaching staff.
