Brezec is back
Quote:
Center Primoz Brezec is back with the Charlotte Bobcats, but he didn't publicly address his two-week absence from the team at practice Friday.
Brezec never made it to training camp in Wilmington last week because of what the team described as a family situation. Friday, he practiced for the first time under new coach Sam Vincent, and a team spokesman said it might be a few days before Brezec is made available to the media.
The Bobcats are shorthanded for experienced big men this preseason, but Vincent said he won't rush in Brezec, who started most games at center the team's first two seasons.
"I won't use him at all" tonight in Greensboro against the Miami Heat, Vincent said. "After he gets some practices under his belt -- maybe in two or three preseason games (he'll be ready to play).
"I'm not feeling rushed to put him on the floor.''
Brezec appeared in good shape, according to Vincent. Center-forward Emeka Okafor said Brezec is so conscientious, there's no reason to worry.
"It's just a matter of him learning the plays'' in Vincent's offense, Okafor said. "My level of concern about Primoz, on a scale of one-to-10, is a one.''
The Bobcats are hurting for big men, with knee injuries shelving Sean May for the season and Othella Harrington for at least the preseason. Vincent has used second-year pro Ryan Hollins as starting center so far.
Vincent said it's too soon to tell whether Brezec will be ready to contribute in the Nov. 2 opener against the Milwaukee Bucks, but "I think he'll be up to speed sometime in November.''

We cut Deji Akindele, Marcus Campbell and Gabe Muoneke as well. Good to have him back but hopefully him missing this much time doesn't mess him up like last year. It's two different situations but we can't afford for him to play as bad as he did
