Torn ACL likely ends Morrison's season

LOS ANGELES --
Who’s next?
It must feel that way to the Charlotte Bobcats, who Saturday lost their third forward to a knee injury. Adam Morrison suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in an exhibition loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The team anticipates him needing season-ending surgery.
The Bobcats already had lost Sean May for the season, to micro-fracture surgery, and are awaiting Othella Harringon’s return from an arthroscopic procedure.
Morrison’s left knee buckled midway through the third quarter of a 20-point loss to the Lakers. He cut hard right, reacting to a drive by Lakers forward Luke Walton, and felt a popping sensation in the joint. He immediately crumpled to the floor, grabbing his knee and shrieking in pain.

Re: Morrison injures knee
Wow. This a major blow to their team. Hopefully it is not serious.

“He pretty much knew’’ what the MRI exam would reveal, coach Sam Vincent said, “because he felt, when he made the move, the pop.’’
Morrison stayed behind at the team hotel Sunday during the Bobcats’ exhibition matchup with the Phoenix Suns. He was scheduled to fly home on the team plane, then consult with Dr. Glenn Perry, the team physician, Monday.
The Bobcats chose Morrison with the third overall pick of the 2006 draft. Although Morrison wasn’t a starter this preseason, Vincent was counting on him as the first or second player off the bench, alongside Matt Carroll. Vincent planned for him to average 20 to 25 minutes and 14 to 16 points.
Morrison would have been particularly useful in the small lineup Vincent was increasingly using. That group moves Gerald Wallace from small to power forward, a position Wallace has played part-time each of the previous two seasons.
“We’ll still look at that small group with other guys’’ at small forward, Vincent said. “But Adam was such a good scorer, he made it deadly.”

Re: Morrison likely out for season with torn ACL
Wow, didn't expect this at all. What a horrible start to his career and we've already got injury problems and our season hasn't started yet. Good luck to him was hoping he could have a fresh start this year but he'll just have to bounce back next year, if we even pick up his option?
