Cats' 2008 Salary cap situation and offseason talk
I'm taking the information in this table from hoopshype.com and I'm not sure that it's accurate. Obvious big thing is that Okafor and his agents have given every indication that they expect to get a huge contract.Personally I'd let him play for the QO or work out a Sign & Trade before I'd give him anything close to a MAX deal.10-12 million per season is what he's worth and there's no reason to pay him more. From ESPN our other FA's.I'd guess we will want to keep Boykins if we can't find a better option.Hollins and Davidson will be cheap and we'll have plenty of roster spaces assuming that there are no drastic moves.

Re: Cats' 2008 Salary cap situation and offseason talk
I think the salary cap should be around 57 million.I didn't realize we'd have so much capspace.I found that list on ESPN and I didn't see a lot of guys who thrilled me as UFA's.Chris Duhon is one guy.He should be cheap and he'd fill our need for a competent backup point guard. The big key is what you can expect from May and Morrison.May looks like he should call Jenny Craig right now.If somehow you could get him to come back and give us the production we got from him in 2006-7 that would solve a lot of problems. If you could have him and Morrison give you some real production off the bench then we should be vastly improved without making a grandstand move in free agency.
Our real needs are for a backup point guard and a starting center who'd be an upgrade over Mohammed. It looks like we might draft Anthony Johnson from LSU,but I really haven't seen him play so I don't know if that's good or not.If Brook Lopez were available we'd take him almost certainly, but he only strikes me a competent player.
Unless we could get a top two pick I just don't think anyone in this draft will make a huge impact for us in the short term.I'm certain that the front office is going to be thinking short term. It's time for them to put up or shut up.If they want to make things work in Charlotte they have to put a competitive product on the floor.I assume that means you get rid of Vincent...God help us we might get Larry Brown and I'll have to start writing new drama queen jokes.I'd assume they'll also look to move our pick for a veteran. If these numbers are right we might be able to get another guy in a similar situation to Richardson...Which is to say someone with a contract that isn't comensurate with his recent performance.

You mean Anthony Randolph...which would be a freaking mistake if they resign Okafor. Randolph can't play 5, and I doubt he develops along a Tyson Chandler curve. He could develop into a 4 if he consistently works at getting bigger, but right now he's a 6'10 SF with upside.
Give me one of these 7 footers, Lopez, Jordan or McGee. Anything in the 6-8 range should be traded to a team in the 9-11 range for their pick and something else. Or we could do one of those i'll draft this guy you draft him then we'll trade type of deals, that way we know we'll be getting the player we want at maximum value.

Re: Cats' 2008 Salary cap situation and offseason talk
I could care less what we do as long as I don't have to watch McInnis run our offense anymore. I couldn't watch it and by the time he was gone it was too late. I want to be able to watch our Bobcats again. Get a coach that realizes that this team needs to run, not run the slowest offense in the league, and we'll be fine. The team might not be the best but atleast it will be bearable to watch again
