Ok, so I was thinking about the draft, and what positions and players you think we should most look to pick up in this draft. (That includes S&T of Deng/Gordon for draft picks or to move up in the draft.)

My ranking of needs, and possible draftees:

1. Shooting Guard - We need a real SG. Gordon is a shooter, but is too big of a defensive liability and has no handle as well as being limited offensively to long range jump shots usually.

Possible SG draftees:

a. Chase Budinger - a bigger SG/SF that can shoot the 3, finish at the rim. His handle and D aren't great either, but they're better than Gordon's.

b. Nicolas Batum - I don't know much about him, except he's said to be a good athlete and could play either SG or SF. Comparison to Rudy Gay works for me lol.

c. Russell Westbrook - Kind of a PG/SG tweener, who's comparison is Monta Ellis. I am still hesitant about it since I'm 100% sick of undersized SGs, but I think his speed and length, along with being a good defender would make him a decent pickup. I prefer him to Mayo and Gordon, who are more SGs in PG's bodies, and more offense-oriented too.

d. OJ Mayo and Eric Gordon - They're smaller, so I'd be hesitant to draft them, but they have a better handle than Gordon and both are more of a driver too....but that could change when they gets in with the big boys in the NBA too, and they could be jump shooters like Bengo.

#2. Small Forward - I don't think Deng is worth half the money he expects, so we need to cut him loose or trade him if he doesn't sign cheaper than I anticipate. He's average in every sense of the word, and just looks ackward as hell out there with his subpar handle and athleticism.

Possible SF draftees:

a. Michael Beasley - of course, the best player in college basketball. He's a bit of a SF/PF tweener, but he is more of a go-to scorer and a great rebounder, with good size to defend...when he feels like it. I think he might be a major character concern though. If we won the lotto, I'd have a hard time deciding behind him and Rose.

b. Donte Greene - A long athletic guy that is a bit of a SF/PF tweener. I question the mental side of his game as he forces shots a lot and tends to play harder on O than D.

c. Danilo Gallinari - From what I've gathered, he appears to be a good scoring option, but too enamored with the 3pt shot. Good size, but lacks speed to defend smaller opponents.

#3. Point Guard - Hinrich hasn't been playing very well and isn't a true PG anyway. This is #3 since he's under contract, unlike SG and SF, and he's been a good defender and solid offensive player the rest of his career (aside from this year).

Possible PG draftees:

A. Derrick Rose - This is the one guy that I really have no question marks about, and wouldn't hesitate to draft. His shot leaves something to be desired, but the overall game and potential is great. No question he and Beasley should go 1-2.

b. Jerryd Bayless - Decent size at 6'3" and very fast. Bit of a combo guard and more offensive-minded too.

#4. Center - We have no beef in the middle. Noah is nothing special at all, by any stretch of the imagination, and he's more of a PF anyway.

Possible C draftees:

a. DeAndre Jordan - He has good size and athleticism, but hasn't lived up to his potential in the games I've seen (got injured in one, and wasn't too impressive in the others). The potential is why you'd take this guy, hoping for a Dwight Howard.

b. Brook Lopez - the anti-Noah. Not very athletic, but a good touch and much bigger/stronger.

#5. Power Forward - IMO, Tyrus is the only player on the team with ANY chance of becoming a star. He can be an elite shot blocker and rebounder, and is showing a good outside shooting touch to go along with his elite athleticism. Gooden has looked really good too as a Bull for the most part, so not much of a need here IMO.

Possible PF Draftees:

a. Blake Griffin - He has good size, athleticism, and skill lvl. He could be really good I think.

b. Darrell Arthur, aka Tyrus Version 2 - Enough said

c. Kevin Love - a big guy, 6'10" 270 lbs, not as athletic, more of a post player. Bad knees are a red flag already.

Overall big board:

1a. Michael Beasley
1b. Derrick Rose
3a. Chase Budinger
3b. DeAndre Jordan
5. Blake Griffin

i would actually try to get a true PG

then start building the team a bit like the hornets

PG-New dude hopefully something like Paul
SG-Gordon who is kinda like Mo Pete(both can shoot)
SF-Deng who isnt like Peja but whatever
PF-Tyrus who would be the Tyson Chandler and receive the alley oops from the new PG
C- Gooden(I dont know anything about david west)

Ummm, The Hornets, really? That's what we should aspire to be?

The Hornets are this years Bulls. They've played hard, overachieved and caught people at the tright time.

They're not bad, but they're not championship contenders.

We just need everyone to get ont he same page, play liek they are capable of playing and then add alittle more post production.

The East sucks. We aren't as bad as we appear. Yet, we weren't as good as we hoped.

I think we should try and get a true PG. Kirk, it's been real but I think it's time to move on. Almost no chance that Pax trades his golden boy though. I don't know anything about college players so I don't know who we should draft.

A lot of tweeners in this draft. They're probably very talented with franchise player potential. But, it's a bit tough to pick one after being undersized for quiet awhile.

The guy I want from this draft is Derrick Rose. I say give whatever the no.1 or no.2 pick holder want from us for the pick. Start from scratch with Rose. If possible I'd like to keep Noah, Tyrus, and Thabo. If possible, Gordon too. He has all his shortcomings, but he's an explosive scorer.

I don't know. I'm kind of nervous about Beasley. He might end up as another Marcus Fizer experiment. I say we should just draft Rose if we get that lucky. If not trad the pick for something valuable.

First of all, I want to say good quality post to start the thread... the more thought you put into a thread the more discussion it generates, so +1.

- I tend to agree with DaBabyBullz that Gordon needs to be replaced, though I think making shooting guard our number one priority might be shortsighted, since Thabo SefolojesusChristinsneakers has shown some signs of life this year. What I don't get, is why you would want Chase Budinger if he can't handle or play defense either... now, if he gets to the rack with that athleticism everyone raves about (former volleyball star, or something?) that point may be moot... at least he has legit size.

- OJ Mayo is 6'5", right? With long arms? I think he's sized to be a legitimate NBA 2 guard... Unfortunately, I have been seriously underwhelmed by the performances I've seen of him... he has the tools, but I don't his shot selection is great, and I haven't seen much evidence of his court-vision.

- What happened to Blake Griffin against Louisville? He looked great down the stretch of their first round victory... but apparently disappeared yesterday as they got mollywhopped. Anyone watch the game and have a scouting report to share? He looked like he was strong, aggressive, and a quick leaper when I saw him.

- Kevin Love.... I like this guy... great passer, solid scorer... would be great on a running team due to his ability to throw outlet passes...

I see him as the best possible option if we don't get a really high pick. He has legit size and athletiicism, and is just now focusing on basketball and improving. Gordon has topped out already. The difference is that Budinger doesn't have a great handle, but is a SG/SF. Gordon has no handle and is a PG/SG, expected to handle the ball more. Budinger's an elite volleyball player, with mad hops, and a good outside shot. He just started focusing more on BBall the last few years.

I don't think Mayo is 6'5" myself. He looks more like 6'3" to me, and is listed at 6'4" I think. He hasn't impressed me a whole lot the few times I've seen him either, but if we don't get lucky in the draft he could be BPA by default lol.

I saw the beginning of that game, and he was looking good. Showed a good handle and awareness. However, it was Easter and the whole family was over here so I missed a lot of the game. It looked to me like OU was just outclassed big time there. I have seen parts of other games with Blake, and I really liked him. He looks like he could develop into a heck of a PF that could create some mismatches with his size/athleticism/handle combo.

Thanks for the compliments. I do agree that Thabo could be our SG. I haven't really figured out where he belongs though, as he seems like he could possibly be a good PG and SF too, if he continues to develop his skills. If he could be a point forward like Pip, that might be the best scenario.
