Just on a month-by-month basis...
NOVEMBER
First 4 games: 32 mpg, 12 ppg, 50% FG, 8.8 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 1.5 spg, 8 assists, 7 TOs
The rest of the month he doesn't play more than 23 min and plays more than 20 min only twice.
DECEMBER
Averages only 12.9 mpg.
JANUARY
Averages only 14.3 mpg
FEBRUARY
Averages 21.2 mpg, 9.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 0.7 spg, 1.8 apg, 1.2 tpg, 45% FG
MARCH
Averages 13.8 mpg
APRIL
Averages 28 mpg, 12.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 0.7 spg, 1.9 apg, 1.8 tpg, 52% FG
And in those months when he actually played, Boylan or Skiles would play him 30 minutes one game and then 4 the next. He's been jerked around more than any other Bull (except maybe Gordon) since Day 1. And I'd feel pretty comfortable playing Tyrus 32 mpg and getting 14 ppg, 9 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 1 spg, and 50% FG. Not to mention that with Rose breaking down the defense, he could actually end up closer to 16, 10, and 3.
The man defense could use some work, and he needs to learn when to attack and when not to attack, but I'm not sure why people feel he is completely untalented (like Stro). He has a nice little baseline spin off the dribble, can hit the 15 footer with some regularity, and will only get better. He's only 21.
|
Great post. He's definitely been jerked around a lot, IMO more than Bengo, and it's just disgusting. I think with Rose added to the PG position, you could easily expect 15, 10, 3 and 1, at the minimum. I could see the points being close to 20, and rebounds at least 10. I really think he has game and will continue to improve if Del Negro gives him developmental minutes, which the other 2 coaches we had the last 2 season were too stupid to do. I HATE both of those coaches so much now it's unreal!

those are the kinds of responses nonsensical posts garner. posters come with facts and you respond with dleague opinions that don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever taking place.

LOL, a logical person would assume that, however the Grizz's GM is right up there with Isiah and McHale in stupidity, so they might. They traded Gasol for peanuts, and are apparently shopping Miller, so not much would surprise me at this point with them. Although, I think money is an issue, and Gay is cheaper than Deng for the time being, so unless they're looking ahead to resigning Gay and realizing that would cost more than Deng would now, I see no way that Gay and Deng are swapped, although I'm assuming Noc would be cheaper than Miller?

Says you.
Some of the D-League players that have gone on to successful NBA careers include Rafer Alston, Chris Andersen, Kelenna Azubuike, Matt Barnes, Devin Brown, Matt Carroll, Jordan Farmar, Chuck Hayes, Jamario Moon, Mikki Moore, Bobby Simmons, Jose Juan Barea, and Ime Udoka.

I thought it was a good post, but for me it's just preaching to the choir!
The one caveat that should be attached is that, in many cases, it's not the increased playing time causing the better stats. It's the better stats (i.e. better performance) causing the increased playing time.
However, I really don't believe that's the case for Tyrus Thomas. Most of us who watch the games observe that Tyrus just hasn't been allowed to play through mistakes, nor can he get consistent playing time (and this is before he has a chance to "prove himself" on any given night).
Heck, Skiles came out and called the kid names. They obviously didn't click. I'm looking forward to what Vinny D can do for his game. Vinny seems to like what Tyrus brings to the table. That might be all Tyrus needs, just someone to have confidence in his ability.

And Tyrus Thomas is?! LOL.
Sorry to break it to you but Jamario Moon at times looked like the FAR SUPERIOR NBA talent than Tyrus Thomas, if you cant even be better than a 28 year old journey man rookie who did not even play in division 1 college then you got a problem.

I didn't say that. LOL. But you've hardly successfully demonstrated a correlation between a stint in the NBDL and an improvement in your game or a successful NBA career.

i believe the previous repsonses to these posts are much more concililatory than i could ever be. suffice it to say we differ on our opinions of thomas. i'll engage this volley the day you realize you've been mistaken, which i expect/predict to happen far sooner than paxson sending thomas to the dleague.......

I'm willing to bet Chris Wallace knows a thing or two more than you do.
Only the short-sighted and narrow-minded see that Gasol deal as the death knell of the franchise. Memphis probably could have gotten more (or dumped Cardinal) in that deal, but it's hardly as lopsided as the average bonehead fan makes it out to be. Memphis basically got what Pau was worth. He was on the trading block for almost a year-and-a-half. Where was the better deal?
Everyone saw what kind of player Gasol is in the Finals. He's soft, he's weak, and he's not a No. 1 option. He makes a TON of money, and you can't count on the guy when you need him. Other than all that, he's great. It was funny to see how the media treated him like he was some kind of superhero when they didn't pay any attention to him at all when he was in Memphis.
That proposed deal (Deng/Nocioni for Gay/Miller) is about as goofy/fantasyland as it gets.
