I'd rather have an average starter like Kirk that plays almost every game, than a supposed superstar like Wade who is always hurt. If he was so great, Miami wouldn't have been the worst team in the NBA this year. Yeah yeah, I know, they tanked, blah blah blah. If he had been healthy, they wouldn't have, so it still comes right back to HIM being the problem.

WOW, DBB, it must dark in your world.
I'm with you on wanting to see Rose play with Thomas.
However, while there are few players I'd trade the pick for, there are a lot of guys I'd trade Thomas for. I think THomas will be good, I don't know if he'll ever be great. Wade is already great.
The irony is that we can't trade Noah, because Gray as a center is worse than Ben Wallace as a center....and everyone knows how much I hate Benedict Wallace

1. Dwayne Wade
ESPN analyst Chad Ford has indicated that three NBA GMs contacted him in the last 24 hours regarding Wade going to Chicago. Apparently these GMs were both supplying information but also looking for information. This is a common thing NBA GMs will do as often times a good NBA analyst will have a better gauge or more unique gauge on the market than the GM. There were no indications of who would be involved in such deal, but the first pick appears off the table and any deal would likely include Kirk Hinrich, who is a favorite of Rileys. Assuming the Bulls could put together a package that didnt include Luol Deng and the entire front court, this deal makes a lot of sense. The Bulls could utilize a back-court involving Rose/Wade/Sefolosha (Im assuming Gordon would be a part of this deal or a seperate deal) and a wing tandom of Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni. The front court would likely be a bit thinner (Tyrus would likely be a part of the trade) but would still feature Joakim Noah and Drew Gooden which is a solid front court. Plus, in the after-math you would still have a couple players that could be moved.
3. Heat Trade #2 Overall Selection to Chicago
Sam Smith reported in the Chicago Tribune that the Chicago Bulls have had preliminary discussions about a deal which would net the Bulls the 2nd overall pick. This seems a bit odd, although a draft day that netted the Bulls Michael Beasley & Derrick Rose would be a good thing. The Bulls would be getting both a playmaker and scorer of the future, but Paxson would have some significant tweaking to do as Deng/Hinrich/Hughes and possibly Gordon would be without roster spots (Deng could still have one, if the team opted to play Beasley at the 4). The cost would be steap and would start at Tyrus Thomas (or Joakim Noah), Kirk Hinrich, and one other chip. The Heat have also received numerous other offers for the #2 overall selection which are believed to include stars like Elton Brand.

Well, I guess I'm one that has seen some great things out of Tyrus, and I expect it to be a regular occurrence if we get competent coaching, along with the best PG in the league in Rose. And yes, I do fully expect him to be THE best PG in the league in a few years. Considering Tyrus is only 21 or so, they'll be in essentially the same parts of their careers together in Chicago if it works out as I think it will (and hope it will due to both being kept in Chicago). Their developmental years will be at the same time, peak years, etc. I'm not saying Tyrus is untradeable though. I'm simply saying that I wouldn't even consider it, for 1/2 a second, for a guy like Wade, who is ALWAYS on IR. Like I said before, if Wade was that great, the Heat wouldn't have sucked so bad this year. Injuries must be taken into account when factoring in the worth and caliber of a player. Even if JORDAN, who I consider light years ahead of any other player in history, was available (and in his prime) I wouldn't want him if he was always missing as many games as Wade does. I'd take a lesser player for every game, than a star for half of them. You need players you can count on being able to play, and you simply can't count on Wade. I really can't simplify it any more than that.
Now, that all changes if we draft Beasley to play PF. Tyrus as a bench player has little value to me. Personally I'd play Beasley at SF, Tyrus at PF, and trade Deng. That would easily be one of, if not THE best forward duo in the league in a few years. But if Rose is the pick, as I think (hope) he will be, Tyrus MUST be retained as our PF for the next decade.
(As for Gray at C, not thrilled about that prospect either. I would, however, trade Noc, Gooden, Hughes, Gordon, Noah, etc for a better C, and add Deng to that list if we drafted Beasley. Biedrins, Camby, Okafor, etc qualify as a better C than Noah. I really don't like him, at all....every aspect of him, other than hustle is below average.)

If you guys got wade without giving up the #1 pick, an investigation should be launched...

If they didn't do it for Gasol, they won't do it for Wade.

Re: ESPN 1000: Bulls and Heat in Deep Trade Talks
Getting the #2 and #1, would be pretty sweet. As I said before, getting Beasley AND Rose would be awesome. I'd easily trade Gordon, Deng, Noah for that pick, and roll with a lineup of:
Rose/Hinrich
Thabs/Hinrich
Beastley/Nocioni
Thomas/Nocioni
Gooden/Gray
We'd be a bit thin at the C, but if running an uptempo system, which that roster would dictate we do, Gooden would be a serviceable center. He could, of course, be traded with Noc for a real C too. We'd have a lot less depth, but a lot more talent too. That would be the ideal scenario right there.
The Heat would have:
Wade
Gordon
Deng
Marion
Noah
Not bad from their perspective either.

Re: ESPN 1000: Bulls and Heat in Deep Trade Talks
wow. Interesting. Both ideas are exciting to read. We get Wade without giving up the pick, WOW!
We get both picks without Wade, also wow.
of course I realize this is just talk. Riley getting offers from other teams.
I am sure Pax is getting offers for our #1 as well.

Re: ESPN 1000: Bulls and Heat in Deep Trade Talks
If we can do something like Hughes + #1 for Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitzki, even though they are getting up there in age, I think we would have to do it. Wouldn't trade the #1 for Wade though. But I think taking our current roster, and dropping Dirk or Duncan in there, we would be ready to compete right away. Our roster fits those two guys like a glove.
I am still holding out hope that somehow Yao Ming gets traded to Chicago for the #1. I would love to see a big 7'6" Asian s our starting center. I'd even chip in Noah if it was needed to get it done, and Sefolosha, who the Rockets liked.

Re: ESPN 1000: Bulls and Heat in Deep Trade Talks
I heard Paxson say in an interview (I almost positive it was Tuesday) that he had been contacted by a few teams wanting the #1 pick, and no player offered was even close to get them thinking about the #1. The Wade discussion could have come after the fact, but perhaps not.

Re: ESPN 1000: Bulls and Heat in Deep Trade Talks
This is from the Chad Ford chat finishing up right now.
Ric Andrews (Lindenhurst, IL): Chad, What would the Bulls have to give up for Wade? Would the #1 pick be necessary, or could they get a deal done without it?
Chad Ford: (1:04 PM ET ) I don't think the Bulls are getting Dwyane Wade, though it certainly is a rumor that has been making the rounds among NBA GMs. They'd have to give up No. 1, Tyrus Thomas, Drew Gooden's expiring contract and filler to get him. I'd do it if I were the Bulls. But I think the Heat aren't that crazy.
http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=21232
So he does confirm that some GM's have thrown this out there but he personally doesnt think it will get done. I would think the only way it would happen would be Thomas, Hinrich, Thabo, Gooden, and a future pick or something plus maybe taking a player or 2 back from the Heat. Seems like a longshot to me..
