Re: Golden State could be the death of us

One side note to what I posted. They could just extend the QO to Biedrins and risk losing him next season. That would give them another $3.4 million to play with in FA this summer.

I still don't see them offering anything that we won't match considering they still need to sign a backup PG and backup C with their FA dollars, not to mention that Ellis might see himself as even more valuable.

Actually, if Deng is needed the max I would probably prefer all those players on his list also.

Deng is simply not worth the Max, or anywhere close to it.
Thank you. I made it very clear that the list was contingent upon those factors (Max contract being offered to Deng, and them playing SF which I'm sure most if not all have done at some point in their careers). Some people just can't quite seem to grasp the concept, that the thread was started under the assumption that the Warriors offered him a ridiculous contract that he's simply not worth and that we wouldn't want to match. (All of their contracts are ridiculous, but we're talking ridiculous even by NBA standards)

Re: Golden State could be the death of us

When in doubt, you must seek the guidance of Bill Simmons (because frankly the guy knows the NBA better than any other media member I've read and definitely more than some GMs). Use your common sense.

Is Deng a great third option for a title team? Yes.
Do you pay third options max money? Not if you want to win a title.

I love Luol and like I said think that he could absolutely be the 3rd option on a title team right now. But he isn't worth the max. I'd top out at 12 mil/year although the Clips just landed Baron for 13 mil/year so I'm curious if I should amend my post in the other thread and more reasonably take Deng at a max of 10 mil/year.

5 years, 50 million sounds about right.
