Gordon has been documented as one of the hardest workers in the NBA.

Quote:
Gordon's the hardest working Bull, he was an absolute fixture at the team's practice facility over the offseason, working on a series of moves he anticipated having to implement as teams grew wise to his machinations. As a Bulls fan, it was a lovely thing to behold; mainly because a day's spent working on practice court by yourself turns a talent worth your time. A day spent scrimmaging turns you into Antoine Walker.

But early on, Gordon looks as if he's surprised a bit by the actual defenders, stiff-arms, and hand-checks. With nine other people on the court, it will take a while for Gordon to find his flow. Throw in a wasted preseason (Gordon missed nearly all of it with a sprained ankle) and the specter of his usual slow start, and the whole thing seems downright passable.
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop?tag=ben%20gordon

Then of course there is the quote of Skiles saying that Ben Gordon put in the hardest working offseason he's ever seen.

Last summer, Skiles told Gordon he couldn't shoot 90% from the free throw line. Gordon shot 90.8% this year.

Just look at last year. Skiles refused to bench Gordon (even though it was a go to move for the team to get out of a slump), because he felt it was wrong to bench a guy who worked as hard as Gordon did (remember his quote before the 2007 playoffs, where he said he was happy for this team because he likes to see hardworking players rewarded).

I didn't know something as common knowledge as Gordon's work ethic would come into question. So lets cool it. Just because you're a hater doesn't mean you have to make stuff up.

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense

The fact that this was even reported is absurd, and frankly is irresponsible journalism (i.e. stirring the pot for no reason at all).

First of all, they're taking a comment that could very easily have been out of context -- as someone said, being "frustrated with the offense" isn't the same thing as "being frustrated WITH the offense".

And what I think is the most ridiculous thing of all, Rose has been a Bull for what, like 3 weeks now? LMAO...who in their right mind masters any offensive scheme in 3 weeks, let alone a 19-year old rookie.

As if that's not enough, who's to say the offensive schemes being used in friggin summer league will be the same sets used with our real NBA roster?

This is just so mindnumbingly stupid I don't know where to start.

If you don't want Rose, that's cool.....I can think of 29 other teams that would happily take him off your hands!

my conclusion is, bg7lavigne = aaron gray

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense

To say Ben Gordon doesn't play hard is ridiculous. It's going to take years for Derrick Rose to become as good as Ben Gordon is right now, regardless of whether you think he's a one-dimensional scorer. The Bulls have to get rid most of their players and build around Rose. That's what drafting a 19 year old point guard with the #1 pick means.

All you have to do is work hard to become an all-star? WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME THIS!?! All this time I thought you had to be tall... and athletic... and possess some natural ability to play basketball...

I think Gordon will be an allstar this year. He's only been in the league for four years, he has plenty of time being an allstar. And that is a little bit of an arbitrary thing to judge by, because Gordon really should have been an allstar in 2007, putting up 21.2 PPG (on 57.1 TS%) 3.6 APG 3.1 RPG, as the best player on what was the I think second best team in the East at the time. No allstars from the 2nd best team in the conference? Alrighty then!

Quote:
Bulls coach Scott Skiles didn't waste time making a bold declaration about Ben Gordon.

On the opening day of training camp, Skiles suggested the fourth-year shooting guard had one of the greatest summers of work Skiles had ever seen.

That's quite a statement, considering Gordon was already known as an extremely hard worker.

"To just come in the gym and individually work out gets old -- no matter how much you love the game," Skiles said Wednesday at the Berto Center. "I had no problem doing it. I loved to be in the gym by myself. But it's hard to stay with that.

"I wouldn't even attempt to guess how many balls he shot this summer. Ben comes in here and he's running. He's got a couple guys who put him through drill work. Our guys work with him. He's always getting his lifts in. He's doing everything he can possibly do to make himself a better player. It's impressive."

Gordon decided to cut back on weightlifting this summer and work twice a day on basketball skills. He usually brought along personal assistant/workout partner Imran John, a friend from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., to help out.

"In that aspect, I got a lot more done than any other summer, probably," said Gordon, who also found time to make appearances on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and CNBC's "Power Lunch."

Skiles also recalled looking out of his office window this summer and watching Gordon practice "degree-of-difficulty" shots. Gordon prides himself in being able to score when a game's on the line, but it can be a challenge because he's relatively small at 6-feet-2.

"Ultimately, what you want to have is guys who don't leave anything on the table," Skiles said. "They are doing everything they can do to be a better player. He's certainly doing that."
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=50484&src=150

Skiles may be in Milwaukee now, but the guy has coached Cliff Robinson, Penny Hardaway, Kevin Johnson, Shawn Marion, Tom Gugliotta, Rex Chapman, Jason Kidd, Vinny Del Negro, Stephon Marbury, Joe Johnson, Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler, Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Andres Nocioni, Junkyard Dog. Skiles played with Terry Cummings, Ricky Pierece, John Lucas, Sidney Moncrief, Chuck Person, Wayman Tisdale, Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, Reggie Theus, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Otis Smith, Sam Vincent, Shaquille O'neal, Penny Hardaway, Calbert Cheaney, Rex Chapman, Tom Gugliotta, Kevin Duckworth, Juwan Howard, Chris Webber, Shawn Bradley, Derrick Coleman, Vernon Maxwell, and Jerry Stackhouse.

Out of all these guys, Gordon had the hardest working summer he's ever seen? That's quite a bit compliment.

I will always want guys who say they love the game as much as Gordon says he does, and then backs it up wit htheir actions on my team.

Too bad he won't take the 7-8 million a year extension. So much for the love of the game...

Back to the original thought.

Isn't Rose just used to "organized chaos" as Calipari called it?
