Derrick Rose Frustrated with Vinny's Structured Offense
Quote:

Possibly of greater concern is the fact that earlier this week Rose confided to Douglas-Roberts, his former University of Memphis teammate, that he was frustrated in Vinny Del Negro's structured offense. At times, he seemed somewhat mechanical and unsure of himself in his two games, turning the ball over eight times while handing out just eight assists.

Rose seems to be more vocal than I expected.

Yeah, definitely. Memphis obviously was pulling a fast one on everyone with the whole schick they threw Rose into. Some of it got out with the brawl he was involved in, and they did a good job hiding that speeding ticket. But he obviously isn't the structured, quiet kid that he was cast as.

Yea if thats true, I didn't expect that.. I guess Vinny's drilling them through strict structure and gameplan lately..?

I'm actually glad he's more vocal, something we truly lacked last season.

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense
Maybe Rose thought that it would be a free for all, and that he could just walk all over the rookie head coach. If this is the kid's attitude, Vinny will be lying in Paxson's office begging him not to trade Hinrich/Gordon/Deng (even if they demand a lot), so he at least knows he has 3 guys that will bust their ***, and listen to him.
If i keep hear more whining type things coming out of Rose, I will begin to think that he shares more in common with Steve Francis other than the similar games......and the right knee tendinitis.

Maybe he can get Gordon to play defense, Larry Hughes to take better shots, Nocionni to quit beinng so selfish, Hinrich to play to his capabilities, Noah to quit fooling around etc... This is something we haven't had in a very long time.

True, but he did call Noah out or something for not playing to his capability. Was on Sportsnite.

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense
Whats next Robert Dozier still saying that the Bulls are going to draft Beasley any minute now.
I admit that Rose looked like a robot out there when running the offense, its a simple non creative offense. What does anyone expect out of a coach who has never coached before in his life.
Trust me when I say that the offense will run the way Rose wants it ran before the season starts.

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense
Rose played on a attacking team that allowed him to go straight at his man not run a team. he's really a 2 playing point (in my oppinion)
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Derrick Rose, Bulls
Disappointing, not because Rose is some sort of bust as Chicago message-board doomsayers fear, but because his right knee gave out on him after just two games.
The Bulls are stressing that Rose's tendinitis issues aren't serious. They believe some rest and an offseason weight-lifting program will cure what ails him.
But Rose is a can't-miss star, and the Bulls know it. The way he explodes off his hesitation dribble and already understands drive-and-kick concepts shows that it's just a matter of time before he's an elite NBA point guard. But Bulls fans had better get ready for some growing pains along the way. Just 19, Rose has some maturing to do. And his jump shot is most definitely a work in progress, as shown by his 29.4 percent field-goal shooting.

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense
Why is this a big deal? Rose has high expectations of himself, and didn't play particularly well... so he told his friend he was frustrated....

Re: Derrick Rose Frustraded with Vinny's Structured Offense
Wow, a guy with high expectations for himself gets a bit frustrated as he struggles initially while adapting to a new system. Who'd of guessed? This guy must be a huge trouble maker. <sarcasm>
My view: If he wasn't frustrated, and just completely content with everything, wouldn't that be more concerning? It's not like he's complaining to the media about it, he confided in a friend and it somehow became public. I think Rose will adapt the new system over time, and the Bulls will also find ways to adapt the system to Rose's talents.
