The Bulls need to do something this summer to show that they are trying to improve. Every other team is passing us with talent and size. They cannot go into the season without adding a veteran, who can score. We cannot have a losing season with next years big Free Agent class after doing so well vs Boston this year. Who would want to come to a non playoff team with mediocre talent? As much as I hate to say it, the Bulls need to sign Allen Iverson. Just for 1 yr. Why? Yes I know he is getting older and has a bad reputation, especially with the Pistons. But dont you think he has something to prove and to soldify himself as a hall of famer? I believe he will be rejuvinated and ready for a big city, like Chicago and expect to get another contract next year. Bulls would be getting a scorer to replace Gordon and also is a Better Defender than Gordon. Deng is overrated IMO, Salmons is a good scorer and played good at the SF and played well with the smaller Gordon as SG and Rose at PG. Why not go into the season with
Rose PG
Iverson SG
Salmons SF
Tyrus PF
Noah C
This lineup will be able to contend and possibly be #6 or #7 seed in the East. Behind Cavs, Magic, Celtics, Heat, Hawks.
Bulls will have nothing to lose with signing Iverson, he signs a 1 year contract to prove that he isnt done. If the Celtics signed Marbury, Artest is still playing, then everyone deserves several chances.
trust me, you dont want him, i rather pay a young high picked rookie what Iverson's asking

I completely disagree with this.
A few of the upper echelon teams make some short-term moves since their windows are closing; notably the Spurs and Cavs. Boston too, if they sign Sheed.
But I'm failing to identify any team behind us who added pieces to bypass the Bulls. Did any of the 14 lottery teams make any significant additions (without having any significant losses)?
Bottom line is the Bulls still need to improve after losing their top scorer from last year. We cannot just do what the Knicks are doing and rely on next years Free Agent class. Toronto will be rejuvinated from last year, Philedelphia will still be good, with a healthy Brand, Detroit might just pass us if they aquire Chandler, Charlotte will be the surprise team this year. I just dont see how we can stand still and think we can make the playoffs with our team now.

I agree with your point that we have to improve, so we don't become the laughing stock of the league. But, IMO a team with developing young players like us has to be careful when it comes to signing FAs. Especially when it's guys like Allen Iverson. My problem with Iverson is not his skills or ability. But the effect he might have on our young team.
If we sign Iverson and he works out, we'll win more. But, I assume that also means we're slowing the growth of our young players. Signing Iverson will directly impact Rose development. We need Rose to develop as a leader. Iverson will only make things more complicated. I vote for us to maximize our young players development instead of just trying to get us up from the 8th seeded team to 7th seeded team.
IMO, the best route is for the Bulls to facilitate their young players development by adding supporting players who can provide veteran leadership, play backup minutes to the young guys, and hiring good big man coach to help our 4 young bigs (Noah, Thomas, JJ, Gibson). The main target for me remain Bosh or Amare (my second choice). And the many young players we have should be developed and used as trade asset to acquire the premier big. Of course winning is important too to attract big names. But, I'm confident that this team has what it takes to compete for a playoff spot. If we can make it as at least the 8th seed this year, combine it with the cap space we have and improving young star PG in Derrick Rose, we should be among the attractive destination come 2010 offseason. Although I'm still hoping the Bulls to push the pursuit of Bosh as early as February deadline.

Bulls will under go an identity shift, no doubt. But hopefully it's for the better. No Gordon simply means more of Hinrich + the new guy, James Johnson. We're now a bigger team, better defensively. That might produce more consistent play, who knows. I don't think we're significantly worse; we may not be worse at all. It's not always additive. We still have Rose after all.
Like I say before in other thread as much I respect AI but he is not the answer for the Bulls. If it's for say a one year deal then maybe just maybe it might be ok for short but obviously for long term thanks but no thanks.
I do believe our defense will be better this up coming year. I just hope Johnson will contribute off the bench along with our 6th man Hinrick. I think the pressure will be alot on Deng, if he cannot come back healthy and be able to hit a jump shot, then we will be scoring under 90 a game. And his trade value will continue to decrease.
I like AI but Rose and AI is a bad fit. Gordon could play off the ball and knock down 3's. Iverson isn't a shooter, but more of a slasher and draws fouls. Both Rose and AI command the ball a lot so the fit really wouldn't be right.
I really cant see Vinny Del Negro keeping AI happy, or under control... I think this would be a huge mess, you have a solid young nuculeus why would you bring in the T.O of the NBA and mess with that?
