Gordon revisited: Sign-and-trade for Iverson

Quote:
CBSSports.com has learned that the Bulls and Pistons may yet revisit Detroit's agreement with Ben Gordon and instead investigate a sign-and-trade that would send Allen Iverson to Chicago.

Discussions have not yet reached the highest levels of both organizations, but the revised look at how Gordon goes from Chicago to Detroit would benefit Gordon and the Bulls. Gordon would get an extra year, and thus more money, by signing with the Bulls and getting traded. The Bulls, who currently are getting nothing for losing him, would get Iverson -- a fading future Hall of Famer who would get to finish his career in a major market as long as he's willing to accept a secondary role.

It's a farfetched scenario, and not everyone involved would be on board -- particularly the Pistons. The major sticking point would be how to sweeten the deal for Detroit, which would only consider such an option if it would provide significant cap savings.

So we wouldnt pay for BG because of the LT, yet we will for AI? And he will accept a secondary role? Ya, right.

Actually KC said he is pretty reliable in the past, but KC also said he denies this will happen.

Say no to Iverson. He'll hold Derrick back.

I do not think it's going to happen or even true but personally as much I respect AI for the sake of the Bulls future I hope it isn't true and the Bulls don't go through this.

If we aren't going into lux tax for Ben Gordon, why would we for Allen Iverson?

What does it mean that "discussions had not yet reached the highest levels of both organizations"

Isn't that code for.... they aren't really discussing this?

Re: Gordon revisited: Sign-and-trade for Iverson

im honestly tired of seeing this iverson playing a year and a half here, and a half a year there. I don't wanna see him on the bulls for 1 year and we don't need him next to Rose. AI is great, but I'd much rather see him go to a team that could use his services better than us, and for at least 2 or 3 years. I don't wanna see him here for a year and bounce to another team, and then another team.

Re: Gordon revisited: Sign-and-trade for Iverson

Question to ask is will Iverson ever play a secondary role anywhere he plays? So far no.

Last year he said he would rather retire than come off of the bench. What if that is needed here?

Re: Gordon revisited: Sign-and-trade for Iverson

Iverson is a cancer. He almost single handedly ruined the Pistons. That and them being foolish enough to trade Billups. But I made money off of Iverson tanking that team.

Although I don't deny that the "Iverson is a cancer" debate has some legs, let's not blame the Pistons downfall on A.I.

He got on a sinking ship that was ripe for mutiny and was about to sail into a storm. It isn't his fault the Pistons were pretty much done before he got there.

That being said, I agree that it wouldn't work out here.

Re: Gordon revisited: Sign-and-trade for Iverson(updated)

Chris Broussard video. Says the Bulls are looking into getting AI but for the LLE, not the MLE. Memphis can pay him MLE or more.

Says a sign and trade with Detroit is highly unlikely.

Also said nothing is imminent.
