Re: Mayo

Well Mayo has agreed to sign with Dallas. Bulls did it again - standing still.

The Bulls had no shot at him. Why is this a strike against Bulls management?

Re: Mayo

When I heard the rumors that the Bulls were interested, I knew he'd end up in Dallas. Cuban has been aggressive this offseason (as usual) while Chicago's front office has been milquetoast.

Tell me what Chicago could have done to sign him?

Uncle Jerry could have changed the CBA to fit his spending needs, as we should be able to sign any FA commanding above MLE money. Or if we can't sign those players, we should be able to trade for all of them. Management sucks!

Bears are making moves, so we are winning the Super Bowl despite ignoring obvious flaws.

Re: Mayo

How much did he sign for? I thought Dallas only had 4.3 million cap space. This has been a pretty bad off-season for the Bulls so far. Ugh.

Re: Mayo

We said it back on page 1, the Bulls were a longshot for Mayo. Mayo did what 99% of young players in this league do during their first run at free agency. It's about playing time/opportunity and money. I heard he's signing a 1-yr deal with Dallas; this tells me he is looking for the chance to showcase himself for a year while seeking a bigger payday next summer. There just aren't enough teams with money at the moment...Mayo was late to the party, so he's doing the next best thing. He will get more opportunity with the ball in his hands in Dallas (Kidd and Terry are both gone).

Re: Mayo

Well, with Mayo out of the running, Korver traded, Rip apparently staying, etc., it appears this offseason is going to wrap up in fairly uneventful fashion.

The only real question I have left is whether the Bulls will make use of the TPE they got in the Korver deal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they don't match Asik and don't use the TPE, won't they remain under the luxury tax level? Uncle Jerry might well like that.

Assuming Hinrich at $3 million, our payroll will be approximately $67.4 million for 9 guys. Pretty sure we can stay under the LT if we sign min players to fill out the roster.
