Was Washington supposed to take Marshall when they already have John Wall?

The point is, nobody was going to take Marshall over Beal. But while I agree that Washington and Cleveland did not have a need for a PG, it doesn't change the fact that teams that needed a PG like New Orleans and Portland passed over Marshall for guys who are better shooters.

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good

1. nobody drafted beal as a shooter , he was drafted as a scorer who can shoot ....steve kerr was a shooter , as a specialist, shooting is a dime a dozen , like rebounding or defense .

the value is when a player can do more than 1 thing at an elite level. the nbdl is full of guys who can only do one thing well. Beal eventually will be expected to be good at alot of things and great at 2.

2. noah does not score well enough to warrant being a bigger part of the offense , its the threat of scoring that makes passing so deadly , without it a player can only do so much because the defense will play him to pass instead of to shoot.

3. noah is a really good passer.

4. noah is a decent shooter when open, but his form pretty much prevents him from making it a major weapon , a smart team would take this wasted season and re-tool his shot.

5. marshall is a 6'4 chris duhon, which is nice , but only to a point.(no pun intended)

Beal was touted as one of the best Jump Shooters in HS, he may not have been lights out in college but we are talking about a kid who had some Ray Allen comparisons coming out of HS.

Marshall is Jason Kidd wihtout the ability to score, not Duhon.

jason kidd before he got old was the best rebounding guard in the game , with great end to end speed , while being a very good defensive player .

marshall is none of that .

he is a little on the slow side , doesn't rebound particularly well , and with questionable lateral quickness and mediocre defensive ability in general .

i like his heady game but outside of running an offense he brings little , he has almost nothing that made kidd special but he is loaded with the stuff that makes duhon ordinary ( mediocre athleticism , no midrange game , lack of scoring ability, average 3 point shot occasionally gets hot ) being a great passer is great but it means less if you dont have the ability to break down defenses and threaten to score.

and beal is a scorer 1st , just like ray allen , if allen was mostly a shooter , he wouldn't be nearly as good. beal's nba comparisons are allen and eric gordon , not korver and novak, ., beal is supposed to be a 20+ point a game scorer ,and you dont there mostly spotting up

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/83...rankings-31-40

ESPN Player Rankings

2012 Rank - Player (2011 Rank)
31. Josh Smith (43)
32. Rudy Gay (27)
33. Joe Johnson (32)
34. Zach Randolph (20)
35. Roy Hibbert (96)
36. Joakim Noah (29)
37. Luol Deng (46)

38. Eric Gordon (39)
39. Danny Granger (36)
40. Stephen Curry (38)

As a consensus, 104 experts do not seem to think that Noah or Deng are only average.

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good

The question of course, is if they are good enough.

Without Rose? No.

With Rose? Remains to be seen.

Pretty damn good with him, however. Boozer just needed to be a bit better than he has been.
