Russell on Noah: He's really good
In order to let the Malcolm Thomas thread die a merciful death, and to irritate those who see Noah as holding our team back, Bill Russell enters the fray:

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good
Noah is a good starting center. Good being the operative word here. Lets not act like Noah is some great player here. Hes a reliable starting 5 with plenty of strengths, and plenty of weaknesses.

He might be my favorite player on the Bulls after Rose. But no argument regarding his strengths and weaknesses. I have a small sliver of hope that he'll regain some confidence in that tornado shot and even add a hook. It's cool that Russell likes him. Russell is awesome.

I don't disagree with the statement. Would you rather a top 5 assist man on the team, or a top 5 3 point shooter? To me its a very simple question. Although how that relates to Noah...... I'm not sure.

Joakim Noah isn't either one of those two. IMO A good passer is not better than a good shooter on offense, case in point the simple fact that a team drafted Bradle Beal over Kendal Marshall, Marshall is one of the best PURE passers that has come out of college IN A LOOOOONG time. But lets focus on Noah here, Russel says we don't utilize him enough. Ok, name me one team in the NBA that utilizes their Center as much as the Bulls do in the passing game? Maybe Pau Gasol. What exactly does he want the Bulls to do with Noah that we haven't been doing? There is only so much you can do with a big man who can't create offense for himself. What made Chris Weber so deadly? Was it the fact that he was probably the best passing big man in the game, or was it the fact that he was an all world offensive player as well? It was a combination of both his passing and scoring that made him such a dangerous player. Unfortunately Noah doesn't have the offensive tools to be used the way Russel thinks we should use him. |

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good
He's an emotional guy, and let's his emotion's kinda ruin his game from time to time and immature. but a solid rebounder.

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good
Hmmmm.... am I going to listen to the guy who can't even spell Tornado correctly, or the guy with a doctorate in drisification?
Tough choice.

A hook shot would be nice, but honestly I haven't seen many big men with a solid hook shot in recent years. |

Re: Russell on Noah: He's really good
Why not? The dude significantly improved his FT%. I'm fairly comfortable with Noah taking some mid-range jumpers here and there to keep defenses honest. I wouldn't hold my breath on developing a hook shot at his age, though. |
