Pretty bad year for Chicago Sports
Man, relative to a few years ago, and even to expectations at the beginning of the year (prior to playoffs), things are not looking good for Chicago's teams. Cubs look to be really bad for a few more years. Strike in the NHL. Bulls are in limbo with Rose hurt. The Bears looked disappointing to say the least.
Hope the White Sox can at least get to the playoffs. And maybe the Bears just had a bad day?

The White Sox may be playoff bound, so that is good, especially relative to expectations entering the season. I would disagree the Bears were "disappointing to say the least." They looked good in beating a bad team. They looked bad losing to the Packers at Lambeau field. I don't think either of those results really shows how good or bad the team is just yet. The Bears will be ok if they can keep Cutler upright, and won't be if they can't. |

Really the Rose injury on the heels of the Cutler/Forte injuries were the bummer of the past 365 days.... other than that the Sox/Bears/Bulls have at least been competitive, which is better than it has been some years.

Mike McCarthy is sometimes brilliant. A fake field goal on 4th and 26th? So don't feel too bad about the lose - until the Packers beat them in Soldier field.

Re: Pretty bad year for Chicago Sports
Okay, okay, I'll come back from the cliff.
Dornado, you mention the Sox as though they are from Chicago...Wait, they are? :-) I grew up a Cubs fan, and their utter desolation has probably colored my outlook. I know, we have a new offense and coaching staff for the Bears. I'll give them time. No Blackhawks at all, after what looked like it might be a dynasty. And Rose is learning how to jump again. But I'll enjoy the Sox. They have been a surprisingly good story, though unlikely to progress very far this postseason. Go Bulls!

White Sox miss post season! Boo!
Bears are looking up. (and Pack are looking down, always nice) Bulls? a question mark.

I get the feeling the Bears have that something special this year, but we'll see. We need to win the division for this to happen since we never play well in GB.

I look at the Bears with optimism. They could be worse. At least they have a fighting chance to make the playoffs. It's better than being 2 games below. 500 and the season lost already.
The Bulls are at least in position to make some noise. I'm really currious as to what moves and direction the team will head after this season. Rose will be back, but everyone else could leave or be moved in different scenarios. Plus the possibility of Mirotic coming over is intriguing. The Cubs are in full blown rebuilding mode... Which normally is a bummer. But with the state the Club has been in for the last decade, at least they are doing something. Finally getting bad contracts off the books and stocking up on young promising prospects. F*ck the whitesox. The NHL, well, that's not a Chicago problem right now... Hopefully the lockout ends and the Hawks can get back on the ice, because they are Chicago's best team right now. Sent from my SGH-T999 using VerticalSports.Com App |

Re: Pretty bad year for Chicago Sports
I so so so so hope the NHL can get it's act together. It looks like (from what I'm seeing/hearing today) things are progressing. Not that Bettman really said anything at his stupid podium speech yesterday, but. Cross my fingers.

Yes, I agree. I miss hockey. The Bulls are ok, and there is some hope with Derrick's return looming, but the Hawks coming back to town would be nice. Bears? eh.

Re: Pretty bad year for Chicago Sports
The Bulls have been pretty much un watchable this season. What sucks is that this Board has been a ghost town of late thanks to no Rose and a boring ass Bulls team.

Re: Pretty bad year for Chicago Sports
Yeah, I can start doing game threads again but I felt like I was talking to myself most of the time. I'm open to ideas to increase traffic.
