Rose starts cutting to basket/expected back sometime after All Star break
Just heard it on TNT from Craig Sager. Said Rose has begun cutting to the basket this week and the Bulls have said they expect him back sometime post All Star break.

Post all star break could mean anything.
Last game of the season can technically be post All Star break. |

It did not appear that he was taking it too easy on the knee, which was my greatest takeaway of the 30-45 second clip. |

Re: Rose starts cutting to basket/expected back sometime after All Star break
If Rose is doing even light cutting, I have to imagine he stands a good chance of returning in early to mid February which is consistent with the "after the All Star break" comments from the front office. I've done some light reading on ACL rehab and apparently at this point in time (6 months after surgical reconstruction of the ACL) the knee should be easily 100% healed. The part that needs more time is Rose's trust and confidence in the knee b/c if he favors it, it could lead to other problems. He is also nowhere close to NBA game shape and there is a ton of strength/conditioning needed still to become the old Derrick Rose in terms of speed and explosiveness. In spite of this, 3 more months of rehab should be plenty barring any weird setbacks; that is more or less the equivalent of an NBA off-season, then you work him back slowly with his minutes similar to a pre-season schedule.
It's amazing how far ACL recovery has come in the past 10-20 years. Seeing Adrian Peterson's absurd production only 10 months removed from an even worse injury, and in a more physically demanding sport, makes me even more optimistic. I just hope Derrick take's AP's advice to heart: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story...e-attack-rehab I'm trying to keep expectations modest, however lets just say I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls are primed for a solid playoff run come mid-April. |

A healthy Bulls team is really the only obstacle for the Heat in the east. Hopefully he can come back 100%, Rose is one of my favorites.
