We can discuss it now but he will need some time after his return to show if he still has it. I may be crazy in saying this, but I believe he will be better than ever after fully recovering from the injury. He may have lost some of his hops but his jumpshot will be better and he may even have a different mentality on offense.

Obviously, he will be a different player. We all hope that he will be a better player. Physically, I think he will be stronger and bigger. Hoop-wise, I think it will take him sometime to get his timing back. He will have to fight through the mental aspect of the game - easy said than done.

I don't see why "better than ever" is an option, it doesn't make any sense.

I see him being as good as before, though.

Better than ever would be that he was the same player he was but with some better shooting and other intangibles.

Gonna take him a month and a half to adjust to be All Star calibre Derrick Rose. Think next season we'll see MVP Derrick Rose, while potentially being overall better and more mature in his game.

I'll say about the same. Obviously some of the agility/quickness won't be as dominant and the amazing finishes will be less frequent but I do think he's a hard worker and has probably become a smarter player because of it. He will also sharpen other areas of his game to make up for that.

I kinda wish "Different" was an option. Hes not going to ever be the "Same" player, but there is a great possibility he can come back as a different player.

I worry that his ceiling has been lowered by this, but who knows... mostly I'm worried about setting any type of expectation for fear of being crushed if he comes back and has clearly regressed.

I just don't understand why anyone thinks a torn ACL is a career-changer anymore. Sure, 15-20 years ago, but now? It doesn't seem that the evidence supports that.

I think a lot of it has to do with the Derricks style and strengths. If you look at a list of the most successful post ACL players in the NBA they are mostly big men like Perkins, David West and Al Jefferson or guys like Jamal Crawford and Baron Davis who aren't very similar players to Derrick Rose. Yes one can make the argument that Baron Davis was pretty close to Derrick, but I don't ever remember Davis cutting, stopping and changing directions with the same speed and chaotic nature that Derrick did.

I think its highly unlikely that Derrick will be the "Same" player, I think there will still be moments that he will amaze with his athleticism but I also think we will start to see a more cerebral Derrick, a guy who will probably use screens smarter and not rely too much on his athleticism.

But who knows, I could be wrong and he could come back the same and not be conscious of his knee injury and still play like it never happened.
