What’s the summer league experience been like for you?
Luke Jackson: It’s been fun. It hasn’t been a huge adjustment. You just have to get to know the guys you’re playing with and new plays and that sort of thing.
Is the competition what you expected?
LJ: Yeah, I’ve played with a lot of these guys over the years. At AAU camps, Nike, Jordan camps, something like that. So I’ve played against a lot of the guys, and it something I’m ready for or used to. I feel comfortable, but I’m a little banged up.
A couple of months before the draft you were considered a late to mid-first-round pick, but you shot up and became a lottery pick. What do you think you did in those individual workouts that impressed so many teams?
LJ: I can shoot the ball. I’m just a versatile guy. I can handle it, rebound. I just know how to play the game. They just look for that, plus I’m a competitor.
Was Cleveland a team before the draft that you thought you could fit in on?
LJ: Yeah, I felt it was a good fit for me. There are guys on that team that understand how to play and I feel like it’s a team on the rise, so I’m excited to be part of that organization.
Are you excited to get to play with LeBron?
LJ: It’s exciting just because he has the potential to be just a great NBA player and anytime you get a chance to play with somebody like that, it’s exciting. But I just want to help him, take pressure off him and try to win ballgames.
