Traylor Likes Idea of Signing With Cavaliers
Quote:
Robert Traylor is planning on signing with somebody this week, and it very well could be the Cavaliers.
According to sources, the Cavaliers and Traylor are close to a contract agreement.
``We don't have anything in ink yet, but we are talking.'' Traylor said. ``I don't have to worry about setting up a visit. I know Cleveland. I just want a deal done soon.''
The Cavaliers are believed to be offering Traylor, who played for Cleveland during the 2000-01 season, a contract worth $1.6 million for next season. He would back up Drew Gooden at power forward.

From reading various articles and such, I get the impression that the Cavs are trying to move Wagner and Diop...and that teams have no interest in Wagner whatsoever. And a sign and trade involving Eric Williams seems less and less likely as the days go by, despite no less than a half dozen teams being interested.

Ah yes, I forgot to comment on Traylor.
Decent enough backup. Anything more than one year at 1.6 million and it wouldn't be a good pickup. I wouldn't play him at center, but he's a solid backup PF to fill in for a year while Varejao develops enough to take on some significant minutes...I'd still like to get a backup C, though...

Traylor at 1.6 is a steal. The guy is a monster:
He could easily backup C in the east. I think he is a great addition. The guy really is a tractor.
Good Luck man.

Yeah, I know sorry. I just remembered that after I posted. So if they dont feel like giving Diop or anyother C they got a chance he can play backup C. He's a good pickup.

He's a bench player, that's it. The Hornets will actually miss him if he does leave. He has a big body and is good for rebounding.

O man, I hate the idea of Diop and Traylor in there at the same time. Wagz better be a scoring machine with backup front court.

Big Traylor is a guy who gets short minutes and is good for a couple of good strong baskets and a few rebounds per game. If he can be motivated to get into better shape, his production goes up. He will be needed on some nights when the usual big men get into foul trouble (like when we play Shaq).
I don't have a problem with a one year contract, and maybe an option for another year.
*Big props to the bbBoards administrators for changing my name from Booz-n-Bron to Loyalty.. *

Traylor is a decent pickup, at least as a backup 4. I think I would have rather brought in Gary Trent since he is a more effective low post scorer.
Cavs still need to use the mid-level to pick up a decent backup 5, Keon Clark is still available and would be a good addition as he can block some shots and is pretty solid when healthy.
None of this would be a problem if Diop wasn't such a bust, worst case scenario him+Hunter could spell Z for 7-10 mins a game.

I was actually surprised by his play and hustle in the playoffs. It's a pretty good pickup.

I saw this guy play numerous times cause I go to Hornets games all the time...all you got is a fan favorite...community member...and a sporadic 4 pts off the bench every now and then. I love this guy but dont expect to much.
