New Jersey at Cleveland (12/7/04)
@
4:00 pm PT, 7:00 pm ET
Right now things are going well in Cleveland. LeBron continues to be a leader, Gooden is getting more comfortable and consistent, Big Z isn’t just scoring these days but making the occasional pretty pass and the team spirit is at an all-time high. The Nets have struggled offensively and if Cleveland can play good deense, outscoring the Nets will be very possible. Having Jason Kidd back should help the Nets immensely. Even though Kidd may not play heavy minutes, he is a major difference maker.
The offense should be more efficent and run better with Kidd in the line up. Jefferson should continue to be the “man” for Jersey though. If Cleveland can show good transition defense like they did against Denver, things should be fine.
Laugh at this picture if you will but the Cleveland fans are more hyped than ever. Gooden was speaking after the Raptors game about there being a “buzz” in the air and asked Big Z if things were like this in Cleveland before. Big Z told Drew things haven’t felt this way at the Gund since the last time the team made the playoffs. The fans at the Gund have done a great job of supporting and lending energy to the Cavaliers squad.

Game plan should be simple enough.
1) Aggresively get the ball out of Kidd's hands when he's in for his limited minutes.
2) Stick Newble on Jefferson and double team him when Kidd isn't in the game to make him turnover the ball.
3) Take high percentage shots and get offensive boards to limit their fastbreak oppurtunities
4) Pound the ball into Z and Gooden. Zo's playing well but the Nets are weak inside

Great luck we catch the Nets right as JKidd is coming back.
We come out aggressive early we should still be able to put this one away with our advantage inside.

End of 1st
Cavaliers - 28
Nets - 23
Cleveland is launching a very balanced attack out there. You could probably say something good about every starter who had a moment or two out there. Nice to see Harris hit the jumper out there, which might be big for him since he is playing his former team.

I hope Cavs beat Jersey. There isn't one team I hate more than Nets. They were the biggest thugs in the league when they had Kidd and Martin. Kidd is just a glorified basketball player who beats on his wife. But his wife likes it, so I guess it makes it ok

I agree... I hate the Nets. They are my most hated team. But, I don't hate them as much lately... they don't have Martin anymore, and most of their smugness is gone since they aren't any good...

Halftime
Cavaliers - 53
Nets - 44
Cleveland is picking up steam. Despite having the lead, there were parts of the game where I thought the tempo favored the Nets. But now Cleveland is playing the game at the speed they want to play at.

End of 3rd
Cavaliers - 79
Nets - 76
The Nets went on a good run to start the quarter and the Cavaliers seemed lost. Then the rest of the quarter was more even and competitive. There were a few technical fouls dished out in the quarter, as things are getting testy out there.

Final
Cavaliers - 103
Nets - 97
Good game. Harris hit the clutch shot against his former mates. Nice. Bron played well but was clearly bothered by a few smacks that went uncalled. But if you win a game, in hindsight, that doesn't matter.

Great... it's really getting to the point where I expect the Cavs to win every home game... it's exciting.
I can't wait to see them in the playoffs.

LeBron was SALTY at the end of that game. He had an angry stare down for somebody.. My guess is that it was one of the Referees. He got knocked around a few times with No calls.
Hey, get used to it. It will be much worse in the playoffs. The only way to guarantee a whistle is to drive hard to the basket and force them to make a call.

Looks like Anderson played well again. Think this kid is going to be part of Silas permanent rotation.
Good win for the Cavs. They had me worried there in the 3rd.
Lebron had an off-shooting night. He only shot 50 percent.

The problem is that LeBron doesn't get calls even when he goes to the basket. He's so solidly built that he just doesn't register fouls like lots of other players.
