Cleveland at San Antonio (12/11/04)
 @
5:30 pm PT, 8:30 pm ET
After being crushed in Chicago, the Cavaliers have to turn around and face the Spurs in San Antonio. Due to the disappointing loss to the Rockets, Cleveland hopes the Spurs train has briefly lost a bit of steam and can avoid being steam-rolled early to start the game. The loss to Houston might have the Spurs come out firing on all cylinders and blow the Cavaliers out early. But if Cleveland can hang around and make a run in the 4th quarter, the question will be if the Spurs will hang on to win or let another one slip away. James is going to need to play big but he’ll need another monster game from Z or Drew to pull this one off. Duncan will get his double-double, Parker should slash and test the Cavalier defense and the shooters of San Antonio will stretch the defense. Cleveland's offense will need to be crisp to find the holes in the San Antonio defense. Even when the Spurs are "beat" on a play, as a good team, they show the ability to recover quickly. The Cavalier trait of unselfishness is good but that alone may not be enough.
After a few so-so games by James' standards, will the son of Akron bust out?

Outside of the Chicago game where everyone played horrible, Lebron had played well in his previous 3:
NJ - 11-22fg 27pts 8asst 2rebs 3stls
Toronto - 10-17fg 27pts 10asst 6rebs 2steals 1blk
Denver - 8-17fg 17pts 9asst 8rebs 2steals 1blk
with an average of about 3.7 TO's a game, slightly above his season average. Point being I don't think it's a downward trend, he just seems to shoot the ball better and play with much more energy @ home than on the road. I think we will develop into a better road team as the season progresses if we can get ANY support off the bench.
This SA game is going to be REAL tough. I don't know if they have ever lost 3 games in a row since Pop+Duncan have been together.

Actually I think that LeBron's in a bit of a shooting slump right now. He really has not shot well for the last 3-4 games. His shooting percentages have been okay because he can still get to the basket in most games but his outside shot isn't as consistent as it was a little earlier in the season.

good test for Lebron, can he play against defensive team?
Which one is better?
18 pts at FG43% or
25 pts at FG38%.

Oh I see what you mean, yes his jumpshot has dropped off a bit. I thought you meant his overall fg%.
His 3 ball especially has not been falling in the last couple games, he fell back to the habit of drifting on his shots a bit. Good point.

depends on how many FGA he took. If he can get to the line and score 25 pts on 38% with the same number of FGA attempts as he does to score 18 on 43%, I'd rather have 25 pts.

Catching the Spurs at absolutely the worst time. Can't hope they would be sleeping after losing two straight games and when was the last time the Spurs lost three in a row. Would be very pleasantly surprised if the Cavs with this one

End of 1st
Cavaliers - 21
Spurs - 31
The Spurs are the aggressors and look good drawing fouls and executing plays. James picking up his 2nd foul and having to sit early hurt as well.

Halftime
Cavaliers - 45
Spurs - 69
The Spurs are running a clinic on how to run the fast break, how to score interior points and how to hit jump shots. The announcers said the team was shooting about 80% from the field at one point. Wow.

Missed the game and I'm not surprised by the blowout. On the other hand what's up with the defense- the Spus had layups throughout the whole game. Ugly
