-I was happy that we got McInnis, since he was better than what we had, and I liked that he pushed the ball.... and I do not think Snow is a better option as a starting PG for us... but how sweet would it be if we had a quick, pressuring defensive PG.... they could make it difficult for the opposing PG to get into the offense, and LeBron could wait in the weeds to pick-off passes that our PG was man-on pressuing! Plus, he'd have to be able to shoot.
So I guess what I've saying is.... wouldn't it be cool if we had a PG that was like all-star caliber on both sides of the ball!
-Like Silas keeps saying, the guys are getting better with their defensive rotations, but we still have a lot of holes in this team...
we've got a PG who can sometimes be on fire and pushes the ball well up the court, but plays poor man-on defense.
we've got a SG/SF who plays solid defense, but can only hit 15 foot jumpers from the baselines.
we've got a PF who sometimes plays really well, and sometimes doesn't.
we've got a center who is 7'3 but plays defense like he's 6'7, and he has steady but limited and predictable offensive moves.
and we've got a back-up PG who can't shoot, a backup PF who won't shoot, a back-up SG who has lost his shot....
-Ya know... late in a close game, like vs Seattle, I'd like Silas to call a time out and say to his team, "Fellas... it's LbJ time. Move without the ball, and set as many picks for LeBron as you can. LeBron, no outside jumpers for the most part... take it to the rim off the picks and take the shot if you got it or do whatever you gotta do pass-wise when the defense collapses on you. It's a close game, and now is when you gotta be selfish. You're either gonna get fouled, get a semi-decent shot, or be able to hit whoever is left open. Time to take over, the the rest of you gotta help him to do so by setting picks, crashing the boards, and making yourself available for a pass when he attacks the basket."
I know that is simplistic, but when the game is close, James has gotta be more like Mike... if you score the last 11 points in the game... so be it. If you feel like you are hogging the ball.... fine... go for the win. Take the game over, and your team-mates job is to help you do so.
