Cleveland at Portland (1/19/05)
 @
7:00 pm PT, 10:00 pm ET
Cleveland lost a close game in Seattle, but had a few days to rest/practice before facing the Trailblazers. Mask or no mask, James has been getting it done lately. But he needs Big Z to have a breakout game. In recent games, foul trouble and poor shooting and general ineffectiveness has negated an advantage Cleveland has over several teams: size, paint play and the center position. J-Mac has been lackluster as of late. When his scoring on his, so is the rest of his game. McInnis’ playmaking ability beings or ends with whether his shot is falling. Silas needs to bring Snow into the game sooner if McInnis continues to struggle. But fear of Jeff being a malcontent always has Silas playing McInnis-Snow together instead of choosing one.
The masked man is delivering but needs consistent help from the backcourt.

Everytime I get fed up with Jmac, he shows up and makes some big plays in a game down the stretch. For all his faults he brings a certain level of fire / killer instinct that we have lacked. Yes he drops off quite a bit when his shot is not falling, but based on the entirety of his play here in Cleveland it's a slump he should recover from soon.
That said, I agree with Remy in that if he doesn't get it together, Silas should yank him for Snow. We don't have alot of room for error in these road games and Snow has shown he can reduce the PG penetration that is KILLING us in the last couple games.
By the way rumor has it that Randolph might be out which hurts their depth.

Here's hoping JMac steps up. We need someone other then Lebron to score on the perimeter. Otherwise bring in Snow so our big men aren't contstantly in foul trouble from penetrating guards

Halftime
Cavaliers - 55
Trailblazers - 49
The Cavaliers were on a good run in the early stages of the 2nd quarter but Portland came back. On an interesting note, Ha saw some action early and Telfair has seen a little daylight. Nice to see Z playing better.

End of 3rd
Cavaliers - 79
Trailblazers - 66
The lead was up to 17 at one point in the quarter. Theo picked up 2 fouls in the first half and still hasn't seen daylight since.

Cavaliers 107, Trailblazers 101
James got the triple-double. Now he can rest at peace and not be bothered about it. =)

Great to see Bron get his 1st Triple Double. I wonder if he will get a double digit 'steals' game this year. His defense is coming along well.
And Snow and McGinnis hit some key shots tonight. I like the way that Silas gets his point across in practice sessions. This team is taking shape nicely.

For some reason i couldnt get this on TV and i havent missed a game. Was there a reason why Drew Gooden only saw 22 minutes. He looked like he played well in those minutes i think it was 15 and 7 in 22 minutes which is great. And he wasnt even in foul trouble. And it looked like all the guards scored the points so it couldnt have been his defense, i just wondered...
Any input ???
I saw Jeff M was only 4 of 14 from the field and Eric Snow had a nice box score... How did this happen ??
Just some details of the game would be nice... Thanks

My favorite highlight is of LeBron crossing up Ruben Patterson leading to him laying spralled out on the ground as LeBron calmly knocks down the three. That was classic
This is from Oregon Live
Patterson, who one night earlier broke Sacramento Kings forward Peja Stojakovic's 134-game streak of scoring at least 10 points, called James one of the five toughest players to guard.
"He's a helluva player," Patterson said. "I didn't know he could shoot jump shots like that. But I think fatigue kicked in on me a little."

I think Silas had Drew sit for 2 reasons... mostly because Portland was really really thin up front and went with a smaller and quicker lineup, and he ran Tractor and AV more (he kept Z in for our match-up advantage), also, I think Gooden had a few knucklehead plays.

Gooden is still on a riduculously short leash. Frankly Silas needs to get over it and let him play.
I was watching him closely and while he did make a few bonehead plays (wraparound lob pass attempt to Lebron comes to mind) he was out there playing hard and snagging boards. His touch around the basket is getting better lately too.
You can almost sense Silas starting to favor Varejao over Gooden, they have basically split minutes the last 2 games.
