Cleveland at Sacramento (1/20/05)
 @

Webber is coming off a very strong performance and Gooden has to be ready. If McInnis struggles with his shot again, he will be in trouble because Bibby is going to try and work Jeff on the other end. Mobley has had some nice games as a King, meaning Newble/Sasha/Harris need to contribute points in order to avoid the SG match-up being lopsided.
Playing the Kings on a back-to-back schedule is no easy task. With 40+ minutes logged last night, will James have his legs? For Cleveland to win, James might need another triple-double type of game. He'll be ready for that but the teammates must convert. On a side note, Gooden could get yanked fast from the game (put out a Drew watch).

This is gonna be a tough game, Webber has been playing well lately and Bibby will tear Jmac a new one off dribble penetration.
Keys to this game will be finding a way to keep Bibby out of the paint (let's hope Snow sees some extended minutes, he played great last night)
And of course our big guys hitting the boards. Personally i'm hoping Drew does well, I like him playing with Lebron in the 1st unit and we need his offense/energy.

Half of the Cavs losses this year have been on the second night of a back to back game situation. They are currently 3-7 in these situations and unfortunately played 43 minutes last night. Thats going to make this a tough situation for the Cavaliers. One good thing is that Gooden and Varejao didn't play big minutes so they are going to have to hit the boards hard and provide energy for the team. Hopefully McInnis will finally get out of his slump as well. Tough game for the Cavaliers, but I still think it's winnable.
McInnis is going to have to keep Bibby out of the paint and the Cavs are going to have to do a better job on the boards than they've done recently. I'd also like to see improved ball security and free throw shooting.
One hour and counting.

I'm not expecting a win but I'm expecting a good game... the Cavs were competitive with the Kings in LeBron's first game, which was at Arco, and the Cavs are much better now than they were then. They're a good enough team that they should feel they can win this game.

End of 1st
Cavaliers - 24
Kings - 28
Ilgauskas: 10 points, 5 rebounds
Stojakovic: 11 points, 3 rebounds
When the Kings move the ball and do cuts, they can make you look stupid on a few plays.

Hard game to watch. That was probably some of the worst basketball they played all year.

The Cavs are now 3-8 on the second nights of back to backs. Thats 57% of their total losses.

It doesn't help that Silas plays Lebron way too many minutes.
Again with the play of guys like Anderson and Sasha you really have to question how much minutes he gives out to people.
Again both Z and McInnis looked less then stellar tonight.
Z started of well but his slowness of foot really hurt us. I do not know why doesn't Silas play Gooden and Anderson together: that would be far the highest energy and best rebounds out there. I think the Cavs PF's (Gooden, AV, even Tractor) on defense looked bad (I counted three times this happened) on rotations because Z couldn't get back past half court.

The first 40 minutes of the Utah win was more uglier. Clev just does not match up well against teams that have a movement oriented half-court game like Sac. A running team kinda plays into LeBron's strengths, but a fast half-court offense that can pass well and shoot well takes advantage of our weak one-on-one defenders who get ripped out of position.

Can't say this one wasn't expected to be honest. Pioneer touched on it, we just don't matchup well with teams with shooters that can execute in the half court.
We can't matchup with a team drilling 3's like that either, too many points to make it up.
Damn we've laid some eggs on National television, keep us off TNT please it's bad karma.
