Does anyone else think Lebron should become a little bit more selfish at the end of games?
Alot of times he will make the correct basketball play, e.g. draw the double team and kick to set up a teammate. When in reality for our team, we might be better off if he forces a shot every now and then.
He shoots such a high % because his shot selection is impeccable, he rarely forces anything and is always looking to pass and I think it's hurting the team.
In games like tonight against the Magic, teams are playing him for the pass. They know he won't force the issue against double or triple teams, and likewise know guys like Snow and Jmac aren't going to consistently beat you from outside. Sometimes it works (Z comes to mind), but more often than not, we're taking an L.
Come playoff time James is gonna have to force the issue IMO or we will be 1st round and out.
"This season has been one giant pile of suck. It's been just good enough to keep paying attention. But horrible enough that you were better off if you didn't."
There are moments when stars have to go against the grain and make something out of nothing. From what I've seen from LeBron so far, he's just not comfortable doing that. What's funny about that is James is clutch when he decides to do it but he really has reservations about ignoring his teammates. He always talks about making his teammates happy. I fear James is so afraid of coming off as selfish and upsetting people, that he plays it safe too often.
This is also a function of team. Remember Jordan won two titles passisng to teammates for game winning shots. We need another perimeter threat and I don't think the Snow-McInnis backcourt is the anser. Add a shooting guard who can shoot and there a lot of them in this league (Redd, JJ, Allen, Simmons, Mike Miller, Hughes, etc, etc.) then I say this team will be totally different especially at the end of games. Right now the only guy who can be call a threat on the Cavs is Z and teams must now they're going to see the screen and roll with Z at the end of games.
I don't think he should do that... Allen Iverson used to do that and was not sucessful always... Korver made 2 buzzer beater with Iverson passing latelly... The real supersatr wins games... it doesn't matter how...

agreed -- he could attack more at the end because he is fully capable of embarrassing two defenders, but if it isn't there and he wants to hit the open man i'm all for it. you can live with an occasional loss like that, as long as he doesn't become averse to actually taking a big shot. i don't think that's the case at all, i just think that he'd rather play right then anything else, and the wins (and more talented teammates) will come with time.
I would also like to seem him to try to get to the basket as much as possible in the 4th. I know he doesn't get much respect from the officials right now but that will force them to make calls. Atleast driving he adds the chance of fouls to the options of passing and shooting
Enh. Of course there's always room for improvement, but in general I've liked how he closes out games. Sometimes it works out amazingly well(new jersey last season for example), and sometimes they come up short.
It's always interesting to me though that if there's less than 30 seconds in a game, and the Cavs look out of it, Lebron can come down and make a 3 on the run just about every time. Kobe and T-mac both do that. And it just makes me wonder why they can seemingly do that then, but not like 4 minutes earlier?

Looks like Lebron again didn't go to the hoop strong in the 4th. Not blaming him fo r the loss he was getting doubled even before he got the ball but he took some questionable outside shot instead of playing his usual game of being patient an d either passing or going to the hole. He needs to be a factor in the 4th even when he's got multiple guys on him.

It was clear in the 1st half that we're much better as a team when Lebron is in attack mode. The 2nd half he went back to the "let the game come to him" mode and you see the results.
I think another BIG part of the problem is that our team has horrible spacing. I was watching the game again today and noticed in the 4th quarter a couple times James would get the ball with 2 or 3 people hanging all over him and everyone would just stand and watch.
For example, if anyone tivo'd the game watch the play where Andre Miller was doubling down behind him in the 4th. He left Eric Snow essentially unguarded and was purely playing Jmac for post feed down low. Instead of Snow cutting down the lane or spacing the floor properly for an open shot, Jmac forced the pass and Miller stole the ball easily. This same scenario happens time and time again, the only one other than Z who seems to know how to move well without the ball down the stretch is (ironically) Gooden.
In retrospect, I think the blame has to partially fall on Silas for the lack of organization and execution of the offense, and not entirely on LBJ's shoulders.
