Atlanta at Cleveland (2/16/05)
 @
4:00 pm PT, 7:00 pm ET
The Cavaliers will have had 3 days rest to prepare for the Atlanta Hawks, who will be coming into this game off a back-to-back. Since the Hawks lost to the Nuggets, the Cavaliers have to come out intense because teams always play angry after a loss. The Hawks will try their best to steal this game. In each of the meetings between the teams this year, Atlanta got up to play Cleveland. With Childress having good games lately and Josh Smith playing well himself, trying to sweep the Hawks will be no easy task. Nobody wants another team to sweep them; it’s simply a matter of pride. Gooden is going to be tested by Walker, who has burned him in the past with drives, post up plays and perimeter jumpers. Zydrunas has picked up his game lately and has a good opportunity to go off again. Cleveland needs to establish Zydrunas early to make their offense click early on.
Josh Smith will probably check James and I wouldn’t be shocked if he blocked a few of the King’s shots. But the last few times these teams played, James has thrown pump fakes and managed to draw cheap (but smart) fouls on Smith. So I wouldn’t be shocked if James tries to bait the sometimes over-eager Smith into foul trouble. It should be fun to watch.

I watched that Hawks/Denver game, they were up the whole time until right in the end when Denver stole it (Melo actually hit a tough game winner). Their PG play is awful so we should pressure the backcourt hard to create some turnovers.
I'm still wondering how they got a guy like Delk for scraps and he wasn't even on our radar, i'd prefer him to Harris easily thus far into the season.

LeBron should sit this game out.
Why? Because I'm driving down to Minneapolis tomorrow to watch him play for the first time, and if he gets injured tonight I will literally cry.

THis should be an easy win as long as Walker doesn't go off on Gooden. Z should really kill these guys. Plus Lebron should have his way with the two Josh's although he won't be able to dominate them as much with his athleticism as he does some others.

Big Traylor is having serious fun tonight. Scoring, Rebounding, Passing, all of that. Him and Diop turned the defensive intensity way up.
Hopefully the Cavaliers pull away and rest Bron, Z, and get good minutes for some of the bench guys tonight.

Halftime
Hawks - 50
Cavaliers - 55
The Hawks got back into the game when James was on the bench and even when James came back, the momentum had switched. The Cavs weren't able to run the score back up again. Walker is performing well, as expected. He has successfully posted Drew up several times in the half.

Sasha with the ESPN highlight play. Steals the ball, drives down the floor, and throws a perfect behind the back pass to Gooden who finishes and gets fouled. Niiiice..

Boxscore: Cleveland 111, Atlanta 89
The third quarter changed the game and from that point on, the game ceased to be close. Gooden, Ilgauskas and McInnis had double-doubles and James had his typical night. Diop, Sasha and Traylor all had their moments tonight as well.

Good win. Nothing more, nothing less. These wins against crappy teams need to be given if you want to get home court for the playoffs. It's good in the sense they got to rest Z and Lebron

I bet Diop wont see the floor for another 6-8 games. But he played great.
Anyone worried about Lebron playing Friday, (maybe dunk contest saturday), and playing sunday..... ????

It looks like he ain't gonna be in dunk contest. As a Cleveland good: less wear and tear

The only game to worry about at all is the actually all star game. The rookie game is no more than a glorified dunk contest.

Lebron will prove in the rookie game who is the better dunker between he and J-Smoove.
And it's good that this game wasn't close. Lebron's got to go again against a fired up Minnesota team tomorrow night. Then it's off to a busy all-star weekend.
