Cleveland at Minnesota (2/17/05)
 @
5:00 pm PT, 8:00 pm ET
Live on TNT
Cleveland hits the road to face the struggling Timberwolves who are coming off a win against the New Jersey Nets. Much of this game will depend on whether KG comes out passive or if he plays with 100% effort. Kevin could easily drop 30 and 15 on the Cavaliers if he chooses to. But if the passive Garnett shows up, he’ll still get a sweet 20-10 game but fail to dominate and impose his will on the game. If Zydrunas can continue to attack the glass and show his soft touch down low, the Wolves will have trouble with interior defense.
Drew has been putting up double-doubles lately and needs a strong night to avoid being steam-rolled by KG. While Kevin will get his, the question is will Gooden fight hard on the glass and make Kevin stay honest on defense?

Lebron starting off cold from the field again, but finding other ways to impact the game.
Splendid.

This game is already over. You can see it in the faces and attitudes of the Cavs players. We are a first half team and trialing by 10+ in the first half.
Another thing for all you Eric Snow lovers... Please anwser this question. Why would you double off of the best 3-pt shooter in the NBA onto the worst Center in the NBA ( Candy-Man ) ... That my friend is not a good defensive of play. And the next time down Fred H. takes Eric Snow to the rack.

Another thing is anyone worried that Lebron will not get a break on this weekend. Friday (sophomore game) Saturday (maybe slam dunk) Sunday ( all-star game )

Halftime
Cavaliers - 45
Timberwolves - 51
Silas is going to rip the guys to pieces in the lockerroom at the half. If they struggle to score in the second half as well, the lead Minnesota has will balloon big time.

End of 3rd
Cavaliers - 65
Timberwolves - 66
The Cavaliers have no bench scoring whatsoever and are still hanging in this game. The thing is the starters are having to work really hard out there and some relief would be nice. But that probably won't be possible tonight.

Boxscore: Minnesota 94, Cleveland 88
James had trouble and had to leave. Thankfully, he was able to return. The Cavaliers better keep a close eye on his health. The Wolves looked hungrier, more energetic and better all night long. Of course Cleveland thought they could win this game coming in but simply never played like it.

Terrible both our point guards let us down at the end. Snow two terrible plays and McInnis missed a FT there at the end that could us back to a one possesion game.
Don't know why Sasha didn't see anytime at the end: he really played Sprewell well. When he was off, Latrel had a couple of big plays there
Well I guess what can you expect Lebron was clearly ill and Cleveland is built around him

Silas prefers Harris at times (veteran bias) and it doesn't matter if Pavlovic is playing well or not. After tonight, I have a feeling once Newble returns, Sasha gets buried on the bench again.

I think he'll do the same way he did Varejao. Sasha will likely come in if Newble is having an off day. I suspect he will be ahead of Harris however.

There were two bad substitutions tonight by Silas that heavily contributed to this loss IMO.
The first was when he put that awful lineup out there of Diop, Traylor, Harris, Snow, Gooden(?) in the 1st half. Minnesota went up 10 or 12 points almost immediately, Silas brought Bron/Z/Jmac back in and all the sudden it's cut back to 6. Silas cost the team at least 6 points in that stretch alone.
The second bad sub was the one that has been repeated for awhile now, leaving Snow in when teams are not even guarding him down the stretch. He literally didn't even hit the rim a couple of times, Sasha is adequate enough on defense that he should be out there when teams start to pack it in.
The Snow/Jmac lineup problem has to be resolved. Playing them both in the 4th is obviously not working out. Either let the matador run the point and deal with the PG penetration, or let Snow run the point and bring Sasha in to play the 2.
I almost get the feeling every time we play | |
