Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

@

4:00 pm PT, 7:00 pm ET
TV: FSOhio, NBALP

Cleveland has a losing streak going and the mighty Sonics come into town. The Sonics will space the floor, not making it easy for the Cavaliers on defense. Silas needs to make sure each Cavalier stays with his man and doesn’t get lost on screens (hint: McInnis got torched badly last game due to this). Anderson didn’t play last game, as the plan is to use him sparingly until he gets into game shape. Let’s hope this happens sooner rather than later. Maybe Jiri can recover with some rest to be game ready. He needs a few good games under his belt to gain confidence. Ray Ray should torch the Cavaliers bad. The question is can Cleveland limit the other Sonics’ players? Fortson is going to be a beast on the glass, so Gooden better box out and fight (because he’ll get pushed around a bit). Collison will do the dirty work, Ridnour will push the ball (perhaps leaving Jeff in the dust), and the Sonics will probably make adjustments at the half. This probably spells for another slow Cavaliers’ 3rd quarter. Let’s hope some of these trends end, at least for this game.

Even James has been down on himself, saying he’s not the same and not pleased with himself. Get well, King James. Get well. And don’t beat yourself up over it too much, LeBron.

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

I thought we really should have won the game in Seattle when they didn't have Lewis. Unfortunately we forgot Radman like to shoots three and we lost after we left him wide open the whole fourth quarter. This could be real ugly if our poor rotations continue. Silas needs to grow some ball and sit McInnis for more Snow this game. We still have the advantage inside and hopefully Z will have another big game. Hopefully, AV will see some time as well: he can help neutralize the Seattle rebounders

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

Yeah we played Seattle tough @ home and would have pulled it out if not for Ray Allen and Radman lighting us up from 3pt land. I watched them play the Pacers last night and it's gonna be tough for us to win this game...

Their shooting is so incredible they are always gonna be in a game, something like 4 people shooting above 37% from the 3pt line. Indiana was up 5 with a few minutes left and the Supes turned that into a 5 point lead in like a 2 minute span.

If LBJ doesn't bring his A game, rack up another loss. We aren't good enough to win without him playing well.

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

Halftime
Sonics - 54
Cavaliers - 45

James hit some big shots to end the half and the Cavs are lucky he's scoring well. The Sonics are hitting the 3-ball, going to the line more and having way more points off the bench than Cleveland. It was looking bad for the Cavs at moments. The zone baffled the offense and sloppy play after sloppy play.

Boxscore

At one point Cleveland came back but fell hard from there. The Cavaliers have to be careful about free-falling right now because the playoff race is far too close to slack off, get blown out in multiple games and then think you can turn it back on. That's simply not going to happen. Sady, Anderson tweaked his ankle in practice the other day. Not only do you get blown out, a player you anticipated on being back and playing is shelved indefinately.

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

You guys closed it to two points, but then the Sonics regained their lead by the end of the third quarter. LeBron was gettin' ridiculous with the three's. Man, you guys gotta break this bad streak.

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

Smart coaches are going to use the zone to massacre us since we have no outside shooting

Our bench is ridiculous: Against good teams the bench is routinely outscored around 4 to 1 or so. Hell Vlad doubled our bench production himself

We need to get Anderson healthy and hopefully Jiri can prove he's worth a first round pick. Well this is the worst part of our schedule so once we break this losing streak we should be able to right the ship a bit

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

Edit: I agree Pioneer ->We're losing these games because our bench is just getting murdered. Our defense has been awful as well because every team is using their PG to penetrate and pick us apart, how many layups did Ridnour have tonight? Parker the other night?

The only thing that has me worried is that I don't see how we can fix either of these problems. Jmac isn't suddenly going to improve his defense, and even when Varejao comes back, we don't have any offensive firepower on the bench.

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

Well the goal was to continue to build toward a championship level club this year and I think this season has been beneficial. The anderson/gooden combo is going to be our pf for years to come and Z has proved he deserves an extension. McInnis has proved he is incapable of being a championship level PG. So atleast we know where our weaknesses lie. A sg with range would fix a lot of these problems: it would allow Snow to be the starter, stretch the defense, and have guys like Jiri be able to come off the bench.

We still need to make the playoffs this year definitely. -The playoff experience needs to be gained so that when we hopefully have the talent in a year or two it won't be wasted

Re: Seattle at Cleveland (3/2/05)

We need playoff experience, but without homecourt we aren't going anywhere. I would like to at least win 1 series against Washington or whoever gets the 3 seed.

Based on how we look right now, it could be a 1st round and out against Miami orr Detroit..
