Diop
This is interesting quote from the book about Telfair: Nice to know that the same guys who drafted Diop are still in charge
Quote:
• Ian O'Connor has written an insightful new book about New York City playground legend and Portland Trail Blazers rookie Sebastian Telfair. The Jump includes an interesting passage for Cavaliers fans. In a chapter discussing the high rate of prep players going to the NBA, Oak Hill Academy coach Steve Smith had this to say about former pupil DeSagana Diop:
``He had them all fooled; they all thought he was the next Shaq. Two years before DeSagana was drafted, he couldn't make a left-handed layup. He had no upper body strength and didn't run the floor well. He beat the system. If he'd gone to college, he might never have been picked in the first round.''

Re: Diop
Diop is a microcosm of what's wrong with having a guy like Paxson run this franchise.
I just hope when we do turn it around (which is inevitable once the schedule eases up) and we get in the playoffs Gilbert doesn't think that means Paxson deserves an extension. I hope he keeps this losing streak fresh in his mind, cause we are going nowhere with this current group.

Re: Diop
Here's what I posted on another board as on open letter to Dan Gilbert:
As your first offseason please do the following: fire the entire organziation that you just bought. Do you really want to let Paul Silas and his coaching genius bend over for Jeff McInnis and Lebron James? Do you want to continue watching the worst substitutions patterns in the NBA? Do you really want Paxson the guy who drafted a player whose high school coach said the followoing:

Please bring in a new staff and your 300+ million dollar investment might actually pay off
Let it also be know that me and others (i.e. Karma and plenty more) have been saying the same things about this team when we were winning. These are not thoughts that are bubbling to the surface just because we're on a bad losing streak

Re: Diop
Benedict Boozer had it right. Paxson and his scouts simply do not do their homework when it comes to draft selection. For Steve Smith to say that, when he has literally 20+ players in the NBA, just shows that Paxson obviously doesn't have any type of real ability to spot talent (or maybe this is the fault of his scouts). We all know Lebron was a no-brainer.

Did you really write this email to Dan Gilbert? If not, you should send it to him, because Silas is one of the worst coaches in the NBA.

Re: Diop
email sent off to ideas@cavs.com. We'll see what happens - Lebron is amazing but this organization has not been good. If they're not bad then they are average at best and it's time Cleveland gets a championship team
