It's Official Mike Brown will be the Head Coach of Cleveland

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2071943

Quote:
CLEVELAND -- Indiana Pacers assistant coach Mike Brown was offered and accepted Cleveland's head coaching job on Monday.

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reports that Brown and the Cavaliers have agreed in principle to a four-year deal worth approximately $9 million.

Brown, who has been Rick Carlisle's top assistant the past two seasons and in the NBA for 13 years, was selected by owner Dan Gilbert to become LeBron James' next coach. Brown is expected to be introduced as Cleveland's coach in the next few days, sources told The Associated Press.

The 35-year-old Brown, who did not immediately respond to a phone message, would be the second-youngest coach in the league after New Jersey's Lawrence Frank. He would succeed Brendan Malone, who took over as interim coach March 21 after the firing of Paul Silas.

Brown is regarded as a defensive specialist, and that's an area where Cleveland needs some help after allowing 96.5 points per game last season. Before joining Carlisle's staff, Brown spent three seasons with San Antonio, winning one league title as an assistant with the Spurs. He coached San Antonio's summer league teams.

Brown also has worked for the Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets. He interviewed for coaching positions with Toronto and Atlanta last summer.
Well I hoope Brown work out and he comes for the right pedigree so there's a good chance he will.

Unforutanelty it seems a risk not going with a more established coach considering we need a confident hand to work with Lebron. In addition he brings nothing in terms of attracting FA's. I'm not particulary dissappointed with the move but I'm not exatcly thrilled or confident yet.

Yeah it's good to see the guy get an opportunity, because he obviously has proven himself. But this does nothing to help bring in free agents.

Hopefully they will hire the Pacers guy for GM, and avoid Larry Brown as GM. And just have a solid organization that way.

Please don't F up the offseason.

hmm, i think they had a good shot at flip and phil jackson though. i mean who wouldn't want to coach the best young player in the game?

but yeah, i suppose it's nice to see a young guy get a chance... i just hope it's not at the expense of lebron's career.

To answer c dog's question about who wouldn't want to coach the best young player in the game, the answer is simple. Phil Jackson wouldn't. He only wants to coach the best 2 young players in the game.

Maybe Brown had a lot to do with the Pacer magic this season? We'll see next year.

Re: It's Official Mike Brown will be the Head Coach of Cleveland

^Brown better be ready for some serious pressure. If the Cavs get off to a slow start or have any extended losing streaks, it could get ugly real fast.
