Trading Snow
Snow is currently tied up to 2009 at around $7 million/year.
This is probably the dumbest move by Paxson, getting a 30 year old PG that does not fit in the system and is tied up to a multi-million dollar contract.
Snow does not fit in the running game (which would be the best system considering Lebron and Hughes are very good open-court players).
He takes up way too much cap and he is a burden.
Can the Cavs possibly move him?
This would be a addition by subtraction as it would free the team of a head case and an aging player that does not fit into the future plans.
-He could be sent to a contender, possibly Houston, where Snow's half-court offense and D would fit well. In return the Cavs could get David Wesley and Charlie Ward (around $7) whose contracts run out after this season for the Wesley and in 2007 for Ward.
-To Indiana for Pollard's expiring contract. The Pacers need insurance for Tinsley if he becomes injured again, and like in Houston, Snow would fit well in an half-court, defense first system. Pollard as gone to the end of the bench in Indy and he could possibly back-up Z this season.
Possibly to Toronto for Aaron Williams Rafer Alston
while Alston is signed through 2010, he can not wait to get out Toronto, and Williams is an expiring contract.
Alston is 28 and seems to just need to change team to become a productive player again.
One other possibility would be to Boston, which I think needs a starting PG. We could rade Snow for the contract of Vin Backer who will be gone next season.
While most teams would seem to prefer the cap space left after an expiring contract, Houston and Indy seem to think they have a really shot 2 the finals. And while Toronto and Boston are rebuilding, they could really use a starting PG who plays D and is unselfish.
edit: as for the Current starting PG if Snow is traded, I am sure that Hughes (who played a number of years at PG) as well as James and this Lituinian dude could do very well. Hughes could easily guard the PG position.
also Alston or Ward might come in the trades
