Official win total prediction thread
This is the official thread for Cavs fans to predict how many games they think the Cavs can win this season. I'll start by listing what the lineup should look like:
Saras/Snow
Hughes/Jackson
LeBron/Newble/Sasha
Gooden/Marshall/AV
Big Z/AV/Diop
You've got above average backcourt D (because I'm not sure about Saras), a couple good shooters, lots of good passers, very solid all around rebounders, and dual shot blockers. That's already a very balanced team, but when you also consider the Cavs can then duplicate those qualities with at least four backups (Snow for D, Luke for shooting, AV for boards/shot blocking, Marshall for long range shooting and boarding from the 4 spot), you start to realize that this team is going to go places this year. It's also very important to note that the Cavs seem to have gotten a good defensive-minded coach (from what I can gather) to teach this young team, and that's vital knowing how much of an issue the defense was last season. On top of all of that, we should assume that LeBron develops a little bit.
So with that all in mind, barring injury and assuming the above lineup comes to fruition, I'm going to say the Cavs win 53 games in the 2005-2006 season.

50 wins and a long playoff run. But I'm not a Cavs fan and I'm kinda mad you stole Larry from us so maybe I'm a little biased. I don't know.

Re: Official win total prediction thread
Looks like someone has to update their sig...
Um...53 wins conservatively. If things really click fast, you could be looking at 58.
I'm really not good at prediction win totals.
I think they'll challenge for the division. Injuries will probably decide the central. Probably looking at a 4 seed. And a deep playoff run.

Re: Official win total prediction thread
Conservative 55 wins. Good chance 59-60, why?
The pieces fit well together. From my understanding Sarunas can play off the ball well as his Tel Aviv team had other ball handlers beside him. Marshall doesn't need the ball. Everyone complements each other and besides that they all are freakin unselfish, going to be fun to watch.
Concerns: need a banger inside, even with Hughes adding Sarunas makes our perimeter D a bit questionable. What if team just run pick and rolls on Sarunas and Z like last year. We could be in trouble if Sarunas isn't at least a mediocre defender who'll fight through picks

Re: Official win total prediction thread
49-33.
Dont get me wrong i am a huge cavs fan. But we must think about this, our division is by far the toughest in the East. The Heat get to coast while playing bobcats-hawks-magic.
While the Atlantic didnt have a .500 team till late in the season.
You have to think about the Pacers once again being very tough, they have back Artest and a healthy JO and Tinsley. You still and always will have the Pistons, but i am hoping as most are that they wont be the same team without LB.
Also the Bulls if they sign Curry/Chandler are gonna get better and the signing of Simmons-Redd-Bogut- (TJ Ford returning) the bucks will improve.
There are no soft teams in our division, now that doesnt mean we cant be one of the best, but we do have to think how alot of the other teams have also improved.
Not being a hater, but seriously being a Cleveland fan of all sorts, we have to be realistic. I think 4th/5th should be where were at. And their is no reason why we couldnt be the 2nd seed (or the 3rd best team, just that the Atlantic get the 3rd seed). And if Shaq isnt completely healthy all year, no reason we cant contend for the 1st seed.
All things have to go our way health wise, but with the signing dont get me wrong i am as excited as anyone. I loved marshall in the fact he can rebound and shoot lights out, he killed us as a Raptor last year. And with this new point guard are starting lineup on paper can contend against anyone, I would want to say 59-23. But i am gonna lay low and take 49 wins, id rather be under and us play way better. Than expect 60 and something awful happens such as last year.

Re: Official win total prediction thread
^ Very good points. I would just like to state also that Lebron will also likely improve. Probably not the huge blow up like last year but players take about 3-4 years to completely adjust to the NBA.
So not only are we adding Hughes and Sarunas (which means less Newble and no McInnis which is an upgrade just by subtraction), Marshall, getting our first round pick from last year in Jackson, we'll likely have an improved Lebron and AV as well. We have a ton of depth right now so I'm hoping things work out.
In addition the removal of Silas could be huge if Brown works out. We had no system in place on offense or defense (other then give the ball to Lebron) so just from that we should get more wins as well

Re: Official win total prediction thread
50 wins minimum. but how much we win and how far we we go will not depend on talent, but on the chemistry and Defense played

Upper 40s to lower 50s. With all these offseason signings the offense is stacked. Now if Mike Brown gets this team to play good team defense look for even more wins.

Re: Official win total prediction thread
45-60 wins lol sorry for the vagueness. If we blend like a pistons type team we can go places , but if we become like the lakers of 04 with too many stars who dont mesh then we are gonna have issues. That being said this is the dream team i hoped for (well allen instead of hughes but then we would get watson instead of saras)

I'd say the sky is the limit for you guys. Lebron, Hughes, the tall white foreigner..... Maybe you will make the playoffs, even.
Just kidding. As a Portland Fan, i'm just jealous! I'd say 45 wins.

42 wins last year and no playoffs. Only 3 more wins with all the talent added that would be a disaster.
48-60 wins

I want to see if Saras is really any better than he was at Maryland first. I'll give you a prediction afterwards.
