questions for fellow cavs fan

1-Do you think Dan Gilbert is the guy to do what ever it takes to win, even go over the cap (as in not put the cap as a factor in decisions)?
2-what do think of the fact that the head coach was chosen before Ferry arrived and we had any players from FA? Do you think we should have waited and go after guys like Flip Saunders or Nate McMillan ?

3-Do you think the team was build with the intent of winning now, and would have been better off building more for the future? Could this back-fire (as in no ring before the window closes)?
4-Do you think the team over paid for it's free agents in order to win now and in doing so hurt their chances in the long run?
5-It seems Atlanta could have a real chance getting JJ, curry or dalembert. Do you think the team we too quick to sign Z and Hughes and didn't take enough time to wait the option especially considering the price and duration of Z's contract.

5-How do you see the Defense next season?

7-Should Gooden or Marshal start? and where does AV fit this year??

I'm not sure if Gilbert is the guy that'll do whatever it takes, but it is clear that he is willing to go over the salary cap. It is evident that the Cavs will be well over the cap as soon as next year.

It really doesn't matter to me what order they were picked up. It was clear that the Cavs needed to get moving. If it doesn't work out then they'll move on. But from what I understand they have picked up a very good coach. Not to mention they'd have had to wait until now since everyone was waiting for Brown to make a decision.

The team is built to compete now, which it really had to be in order to show LeBron that we were serious about competing. Yeah, it might have been better to build for the future, but that is a very tricky thing to do. In addition by the time your ready to go all your players are getting huge contracts. I prefer a mix of players personally.

I don't know if the contracts will hurt their chances. It seems that just about all other good teams make good decisions even when they are maxed. We have to do the same at this point. If the guys play well, there's no problem with how much they received.

The team couldn't wait, nor could they take the risk that they ended up with nothing. To think differently is just silly.

I expect the defense to be better if for no other reason that the bench is better and therefore the players on the floor can go all out more than they could.

Gooden, with Marshall and Varejao coming off the bench. Anderson is the energy guy at both backup PF and C.

Re: questions for fellow cavs fan

See reading this the other day, I don't know how committed you guys really are. Sure you got Hughes resigned Z, and signed Marshall but you went after Redd as your top priority and I can't fathom how you failed to have Bron and your owner present to really try and get Redd. Instead you guys sent a tapeof Bron. He may have just laughed at that.

It was from hoopshype a day or 2 ago.

Quote:
When Bucks shooting guard Michael Redd visited Cleveland on July 6, he told a friend that he was surprised that he was greeted by only Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry, Coach Mike Brown and point guard Eric Snow. Supposedly, Redd was a bit taken aback that Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and All-Star LeBron James were not present. He accepted Milwaukee's offer the next day.

If that had happened you may have gotten him but some of you may be happy that you didn't. Altho Hughes isn't the shooter you needed.

I think they pretty much knew Redd was going to resign, but they still went and offered him the max. They gave a push but at the same time they didnt want to be screwed with other FA's. Looking at how quickly Hughes signed on the dotted line it seems pretty obvious the Cavs were courting other players as well.

1) Gilbert - I think he's clearly winning to go over the salary cap. We have to see if he has the patience involved to be the guy but he's a step above Gund for sure

2) Coach - Not how I would have done it but it looks like they targeted Brown pretty early as the up and comer they wanted. Didn't want to lose him

3) Time Window - The team is built around a 3-4 year window around Z not Lebron or Hughes. This is clearly to get Lebron resigned. By that time the Cavs should have a veteran core of Hughes, AV, and Lebron to rebuild around making for hopefully a quick transition. Maybe not ideal but clearly the goal for this part of Lebron's career is to show that Cleveland is where he belongs when he is his prime

4) see above - I think they're doing the right thing considerin gthe circumstances

5) JJ - it will no doubt hurt if Atlanta get JJ. We probably made a mistake then but considering the player we did get Hughes and then adding Marshall for shooting it looks like it will be a very minor mistake. Curry and Chandler have too many question marks and they're staing in Chicago I bet

6) Can't judge the starting lineups till we see what happens at the PG spot. For example, if Snow is the starter then Marshall has to start since we need a shooter.
