My brother was driving home from college and our phone conversations seem tapped or spied on. I was reading a recent, offensive quote of Ann Coulter that involved the word "jihad." Before I could finish the quote, a strange tapping noise took place and our connection died. My brother dialed back, so we could talk again. We chatted about various other things for a few minutes. His phone had maximum bars, meaning his reception was perfect, as was the case for my phone. So neither my brother nor I were in areas with poor reception to block the call or make it drop it. As I read the quote again, right at the word "jihad," the clicking noise took place AGAIN (I was determined something was up at this point) and the connection dropped again. Before calling me back again, my brother waited to get closer to a larger city (not that he needed to since his reception was already fine, but just to be extra certain our reception was not the issue). Despite having maximum reception status, my brother still thought the dropped calls were the fault of the phones (namely his). During our third conversation, the call drops at the exact same moment, as I uttered the word "jihad." Mind you, I'm just reading a quote from a lady. I'm not a terrorist and I'm not talking about doing this or doing that. When my brother came home, we talked about this. Later, he left to go see his girlfriend and I made sure not to mention the word "jihad" or the quote. Guess what? The call was perfect, with no drop-out or tapping noises. So why was our 4th call okay but the other 3 died on us?

I don't post much about my life in these forums. I'm just a basketball guy but honestly, tell me what in the hell just happened?

Supposedly they are only wiretapping calls from outside the country into the country--but they only acknowledged that because they were caught. So who really knows how far that **** goes. Either way, welcome to the New America, where questions like that really aren't all that paranoid anymore.
