Re: Flip to the Pistons.
Not really. Flip was like a one night stand - not a long term solution

Re: Flip to the Pistons.
^ Yeah but Cleveland has Flip's replacement in Shannon Brown. Flip was nice but losing him shouldn't hurt much. I wish him well in Detroit.

Re: Flip to the Pistons.
I fully expect Shannon to be a much better defender, but I think Flip is a better shooter

Re: Flip to the Pistons.
I always like to watch him play defense. It was fun to try to guess whether or not he'd be able to figure out where the guy he was guarding was located.
It surprises me that he didn't go somewhere that he'd find more shots. He was never happy anywhere he had to come off the bench or basically didn't get to jack it up like crazy

If Shannon Brown can't improve his 3-point stroke and shoot from deep better than Flip, I'd be shocked. Murray had one of the flattest shots I've ever seen. He said he played outdoors growing up and needed a flat shot that wouldn't be as effected by the wind as a high-arcing would have been.

The court he grew up playing at 33rd and Diamond Street and most that played in that section of North Philadelphia shot like that, not many dont especially the rims. They were the worst

Re: Flip to the Pistons.
Yeah I'll miss Flip. His defense was actually his best attribute IMO. People said he couldn't defend, but he came over here and proved that not only could he defend, but he could win some games with his defense. He has lighting quick hands on defense. I think he'll be a good fit for the Pistons and give them some depth off the bench.
It would be a luxury to keep Flip, but the Cavs have more pressing needs.

This was my impression of Flip also. He will be the backup to rip but I think at absolute max he will get about 20 minutes a game, is that enough for him?

A part of the article says

He will be play behind Chauncey Billups, and at times, can be used as a backup to Richard Hamilton as well.
|
I always thought of him as an off guard. He has the ability to play the point?

Re: Flip to the Pistons.
Yeah he can play both positions, though his decision making at the 1 leave a lot to be desired. I think he'll be a great 6th man for Detroit in the backcourt. Flip needs to cut Rip and Chauncy's minutes during the regular season, and Flip can help him do that.
I bet he gets about 26 minutes per game for the Pistons.
There's a lot of myths and rumors about Flip's game. Don't listen to them. See him for yourself.
You have to remember the last couple seasons in Seattle he was completely screwed. No matter what he did they found ways to give him less and less minutes. Eventually that takes it's toll. But he never came out and made it a huge deal in the media. He handled it like a proffessional, but his game suffered. The Cavs gave him a shot and up until the playoffs he was stellar. In the playoffs he and a lot of other Cavs lost all ability to play. But to Flip's credit, he still played hard defensively, and still attacked. He didn't let his slump take away his aggression.
