Cavs to Host 2006 “Wine & Gold” Scrimmage & Fan Fest at The University of Akron
CLEVELAND, September 6 - The Cleveland Cavaliers will play a Wine & Gold intra squad scrimmage at The University of Akron’s Rhodes Arena on Saturday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m. The scrimmage, presented by Alltel, is free to the public and will mark the first area public appearance by the 2006-07 Cavaliers.
“For the third consecutive year Rhodes Arena will be home to the Wine & Gold Scrimmage and the public’s first opportunity to get a taste of the excitement as the Cavs get ready for the start of the 2006-07 season,” said Cavaliers Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Chad Estis. “Because of the strong fan base and tremendous fan loyalty, Akron is the perfect host for the scrimmage.”
The special pre-season event will include an outdoor Fan Fest featuring many interactive games and activities for the whole family. The Cavalier Girls will meet and greet fans and mascot Moondog will be unleashed and up to his antics. Fan Fest will be held outside Rhodes Arena from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is free to the public and a ticket is not required. Doors for the scrimmage will open at 5:00 p.m. A ticket is required for the actual scrimmage inside the arena.
Entrance vouchers for the scrimmage will be available at participating northeast Ohio Alltel locations throughout Cleveland, Akron and Canton starting Sunday, September 10th. Beginning Monday, September 11th, vouchers must be redeemed for general admission tickets for the scrimmage at The University of Akron box office or the Quicken Loans Arena box office. There is a limit of four vouchers redeemable per person, and, although the scrimmage is open to fans of all ages, only those 18 years or older may pick up vouchers. Seating capacity is limited, therefore receiving a voucher does not guarantee an admission ticket. Fans are encouraged to redeem their vouchers for tickets prior to the day of the scrimmage.
Vouchers to the Cavaliers Wine & Gold Scrimmage will be available beginning Sunday, September 10th at these participating Alltel locations:

• Cuyahoga Falls – The Plaza at Chapel Hill
• Garfield Hts. – The CityView Plaza
• Macedonia – Golden Link Plaza
• Mayfield Hts – Golden Gate Plaza
• Medina – Kmart Plaza on North Court St.
• North Canton – Gander Mountain Plaza
• Streetsboro – 1268 State Route 303
• Strongsville – The Greens of Strongsville
• Willoughby – Corner of 91 and Route 20
