What a miserable draft so far
I can't freakin believe we didn't buy a pick and then after not buying a first watching the ****ing Spurs picking Splitter.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
I'm with you on this one...Gilbert gives the image that he's willing to spend some cash then watches Portland buy #24. Maybe they'll end up with another second round steal.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Yeah, I'm very surprised that we didn't buy a first round pick with Ferry having Gilbert's green light. Phoenix was obviously willing to part with a first for money, and I'm sure we could have had a chance at Splitter with SA's pick. It's a bit disappointing.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Amen. Ferry really dropped the ball on draft day.
He better make something happen via trade / FA now

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Fernandez, Splitter, Almond were all available at that Phoenix pick.
Did Portland simply outbid us: Microsoft beating up Quicken Loans?

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Well maybe there is hope we could get Dudley in a trade because nothing else BW wrote has come to pass:

OK, folks Im coming off the island vacation I am currently on for 15 minutes to give a brief update for tonight. I spoke with some Cavs officials yesterday and I am told they have about 15 guys they will be would be willing to draft if they can get in with cash and or taking back a player with their trade exception ($2.1 million). These guys would be available from picks 22-40, I am told. So when those picks arrive, start paying attention. Another source has told me the one guy the Cavs covet in this draft might be Jared Dudley. Hes an undersized power forward from Boston College. In some ways, hes a classic Danny Ferry pick, because hes sort of undervalued. The last ACC Player of the Year to get this little run was Josh Howard, by the way. Ive never seen him play, so I cant really rate him. I understand he was impressed at the Pre-Draft Camp in Orlando. I would say the chances of the Cavs getting into the draft at this point are about 50/50. It will depend on how the night develops, as usual. I am also told the Cavs are not really close to any trades at this point. Earlier this week there was some buzz about the Cavs getting Beno Udith from the Spurs and perhaps their draft pick this year. I am told that is not happening right now.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Extremely disappointing night. The draft is one of the few opportunities we'll have to improve our team with our contract situations right now. I was sure we were going to get in at the end of the first round.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
Portland actually bought two 1st rounders...Ferry's record is kind of mixed at this point..
He made 1 good trade with Flip (but didn't resign him), and got 1 really good pick with Gibson (though Gibson kind of engineered that by not working out with anyone else). I would say he also did a nice job with Drew's contract.
Outside of that, he has been pretty bad. None of his FA signing have panned out, we didn't get 1 pick in a super deep draft with teams selling them straight up for cash, etc. etc.
He also is not proactive with making adjustments to the coaching staff (offensive coordinator). It's too early to form a solid judgment on him but i'm slightly concerned. Other teams are going to be getting stronger, we can't stand pat again this offseason.

Re: What a miserable draft so far
The Danny Ferry / Steve Kerr friendship did not help us on draft night. Maybe they can work a trade?
