OK.. How crazy is this trade idea ????????

I was just sitting around when this idea came to mind. We have some talented players on this team who are showing off their skills right now. We also have some overpaid players that would be nearly impossible to move in any other scenario. I have a possible trade that might work out for both sides.

The trade is with the Lakers. I think you know who the Cavaliers would be going after.. Yes, that's right!

The Lakers would get:
Drew Gooden
Boobie Gibson
Larry Hughes
The Cavaliers 2009 1st round draft pick
Anderson Varejao after a sign & trade

The Cavaliers get:
Kobe Bryant
Maybe a forward like Ronny Turiaf (if that balances the money)

The Cavaliers are losing a good outside shooter in Boobie, but they get a good one in Kobe. They lose a lot of rebounding and hustle points in Gooden and Varejao. But Z, Lebron, Kobe, and guys like Dwayne Jones, Devon Jones and Cedric Simmons will all have to pick up the rebounding/hustle slack. They lose a good defender in Larry Hughes, but they get a very good defender in Kobe.

Now the Cavaliers might sign someone like Earl Boykins to an inexpensive contract and take the best available point guard in the 2008 draft (Darren Collison?) They might also be able to take Newble's money after the season and sign another veteran.

The Lakers get good, young, talented players....... and Larry Hughes. They also lose the distraction of a player who no longer wants to play in L.A.

The Cavaliers get a hall of fame player in his prime who would take a tremendous amount of pressure off of Lebron. They both can set each other up with good passes. I think these two would relish the opportunity to play together and push for a championship. I don't know their personal relationship, but I hope it would work out. This would put the Cavaliers on an equal footing with any eastern conference team, and many western conference teams.

OK, how crazy is this idea?

The Lakers are playing too well to do that plus our PF spot would be really weak

the lakers give you kobe without getting an all-star...or even potential all-star in return, and you are worried that you are too thin up front?

to answer the question in the thread title - VERY...it is a VERY crazy idea, which I can't believe you even spent the time typing out.

Our frontcourt would be Z, Lebron, Ronny Turiaf, and Dwayne Jones. I don't care how good Lebron and Kobe would be together: we would get crushed by a team like Orlando

Re: OK.. How crazy is this trade idea ????????

Kobe would have to specifically demand that trade. Remember he gets to say where he wants to be traded or not. So a deal like that is possible in that Kobe basically can pick where he wants to go.

What would our lineup be?

Lebron as point forward, Kobe, Sasha, with Turiaf and Z up front?

Lebron
Kobe
Sasha
Turiaf
Z

Or

Eric Snow
Kobe
Sasha
Lebron
Z

Damon
Kobe
Bron
Donyell
Z

With Sasha coming in for Kobe or Bron, and then the other subbing back in for the other?

I think it could work. Kobe and him would have to work out who would be setting up who. But Lebron driving and kicking to Kobe would be sick. Kobe throwing around the back passes in the lane to a cutting Lebron. Both of them harrassing the other teams guards.

wrong...Kobe can pick where he doesn't want to go...he can't force the Lakers to accept one of the most ridiculous proposals I've ever heard.

As for the thin front court, you could sign free agent vets for the minimum that would do just fine. damn...i fell into the trap of considering the implications of a trade of spare parts for one of the top 2 players in the game.

Re: OK.. How crazy is this trade idea ????????

Boobie
Vuijic
Odom
Gooden
Varejao

Isn't terrible. It would allow Odom to go back to playing like he wants to. Like a 6-10 point guard. Kicking out to shooters, while Varejao does the dirty work.

Then you'd have Radmonovic and Bynum off the bench. Or you could start Bynum and bring Varejao off the bench.

They wouldn't be bad. Especially with Phil Jackson coaching.

Not as good as Kobe and Lebron though :-)

Re: OK.. How crazy is this trade idea ????????

You put Kobe & Lebron together on the same team, with Z at center, you could put ANYONE out there at PF/PG and they would win the East no question.

Could they beat SA? Duncan would eat us alive. Still would be amazing to see..

We'll double Duncan with Kobe and strip him everytime he gets the ball. And when he tries to pass out, Lebron will be there to intercept.

Plus the Spurs won't be able to overload on Lebron. They'll have to play Lebron and Kobe with no more than two men a piece.
