T-Mac Downplays Criticism Of LeBron James
Quote:
One criticism which seems to get under Rocket Tracy McGrady's skin is the knock that LeBron James passes up shots when the game is on the line, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.
McGrady says that passing the ball to an open man instead of taking a well-contested shot is just smart basketball, and people should get off LeBron's case.
"That's just making the right basketball play," McGrady said. "You have to make the right basketball play."
"People will always criticize a great player like that if they don't take the last shot," McGrady said. "People will criticize them if he takes the last shot and he misses it. You go through a growth period, but he was making the right basketball play."
"There were times it turned out he might have/should have taken the last shot, but he made the right basketball play. He was trusting his teammates. Even Kobe (Bryant) is finding that out. You have to trust your teammates. You can't always take that shot."

Re: T-Mac Downplays Criticism Of LeBron James
Yeah, I read that earlier.
Very odd time for those quotes to come out.

T-Mac is coming to Cleveland
Or they asked him because the Cavs are coming to town.

Re: T-Mac Downplays Criticism Of LeBron James
Isn't it about 2 years too late, though. He takes (and makes) almost all of the clutch shots now. Passing to the open man might be the better basketball play, but not with the scrubs we affectionately know as the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Unless of course it's Damon or Boobie.

Re: T-Mac Downplays Criticism Of LeBron James
T-Mac is right on this one. Trusting your teammates when the game is on the line is a sign of leadership, not weakness.

Unfortunately most teams including the Cavs are getting away from this mentality. It's basically all high pick and roll or iso from the 3 point line at the end of the game: no movement, no creativity at all at the end of the games. I'd love 82games.com to do an analysis on this but I think this leads to also overall much lower TS% at the end of the game

Re: T-Mac Downplays Criticism Of LeBron James
Doesn't LeBron James lead the league in fourth-quarter points by a wide margin?

Yeah: we have a thread about it: most points/4th quarter in the last 10 years
