Post Trade Analyis So Far
Biggest point so far is we picked up four role players and we'll need all our pieces (Z, Sasha, and Boobie) to really evaluate this thing. I imagine Ferry and Brown are thinking at full strenght we'll have enough players to go offense/defense basically at every position.
West: I like this guy. Sort of decent at everything. Decent jumpshot, decent finisher, decent dribbler, decent defender. Only problem I see is that he seems to get lost at times and he's lack chemistry with lebron in the halfcourt. I think once Boobie comes back we'll be pretty strong at the 1 spot.
Smith: Like him as well. Feel like we're underutilizing him a lot so far. Good jumpshot and isn't really bad elsewhere (sort of like West: decent defender, decent rebounder). Hopefully the fouls will start coming down
Wallace: he's got no lift. Once Z comes back I hope to only see him at like 20 minutes a game and as a situational defender when/if he gets bigger minutes. I like his D still and he still fights for boards but right now he's unable to finish which is the real detriment to him seeing more time. If you're a big with Lebron you have to be able to finish off his passes. Still will be a good 4th big to have out there: I just sincerely hope Brown doesn't overplay his hand here.
Wally: I just don't like him so far. Rushes everything. Missing open jumpers. Just doesn't add anything else beyond that. At least he tries I guess

Re: Post Trade Analyis So Far
Good post, here's my take:
West:
Pretty solid player all around. He's way under-utilized IMO. He has the vision to be an excellent "true" PG in a traditional system. Plus, his lateral speed and agility make him a pretty good defender.
So far, he's not setting up guys as much as I'd like to see which is a shame, because he's a very good passer. Hopefully, as we get closer to the playoffs we'll see handling the rock more.
Smith:
I like him a lot. He's a very solid at everything. Pretty good instincts defensively, solid rebounder, EXCELLENT jumpshot.
He's adapted to the team faster than the other guys, by far. His consistency make him very valuable off the bench, where he should stay, but still get 20-25 minutes/game at the least.
Wallace:
He's done a decent job so far. I would say he hasn't blown me away, nor has he dissapointed me. He's kind of where I thought he'd be at this point. He's still learning the schemes and will only get better.
Although he's not as active as he was in Detroit, his defensive presence is still pretty valuable. However, he is a true liablity on offense and should NOT be paired up with AV. He should start alongside Z and get around 25 minutes a game.
Wally:
His shooting has been a little dissapointing so far. He just seems nervous/over-excited out there. Even though he's been missing some open shots, I think he's too good of a shooter to dismiss already. I mean, he's got possibly the purest shot on the team. He will settle down and eventually get back to making his open looks.
On the other hand, I've been pleased with his effort. He seems to be trying hard defensively. He's very slow lateraly, and isn't very athletic, but in general he's managed to stay in front of his man, which has to please M. Brown.
Also, he is a pretty strong player, who can post up a little, and slash his way to the hole with authority.

Re: Post Trade Analyis So Far
You guys pretty much nailed it already.
Delonte does seem to disappear. I think he just defers too much with LBJ in the halfcourt. He has more ability than just dribbling it up and handing it off to LBJ. Hopefully he gets more aggressive.
Wallace is mildly disappointing because of his inability to finish. His 1st game he was going up strong but ever since he has been pretty awful.
Wally has just been crap. I was real high on him coming here but no sugar coating it, he has been awful.
The one real bright spot is Joe Smith, he has been a pleasant surprise.

Re: Post Trade Analyis So Far
And after seeing how the season and the playoffs ended for Cavs (congrats, your team was very good against a much better Celtics team), was this a good trade for Cavs?

Mixed. I like Delonte alot, he's probably the 2nd best player on this team now with Z declining (in a way that's kind of sad)
I like Joe Smith alot. Big Ben is OK, like him better than Larry.
Wally is OK, he has alot of trade value.
So overall it was a good trade, especially with the drafting of Hickson - Gooden would have no place on this squad. The real value of the trade will be what Ferry can do with Wally's expiring though.

Re: Post Trade Analyis So Far
Ben is done as a player. Joe Smith can be effective if used properly which wasn't done last year. Wally has lost his shooting touch and West is an OK player. Problem is age is going to make the first three worse every year. Only Smith and West will be solid contributors and Joe can only do it for 20 minutes max a game. Ask a non-Cavs fan what they think of Ben and Wally so you can get an biased opinion. Neither has played well the last two years.
