Cavs vs. Wolves (2/6/04)

Cleveland (19-30) at Minnestoa (34-14)
5:00 pm PT, 8:00 pm ET

vs.

After a close fought and potentially heartbreaking loss, the Cavaliers must regroup to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves are one of the hottest teams in the league, making Cleveland’s task that much harder. There is no chance the Cavaliers will catch the Timberwolves sleeping, especially not after the Wolves disappointing road loss versus Atlanta. Right now is probably a bad time to be paired with Minnesota. This is similar to the Lakers game, in which the Cavaliers caught the Lakers right off the heels of a loss against Indiana. One positive things I can say about this match up is Kevin Garnett, while insanely skilled, probably won’t foul out all of Cleveland’s big men like Shaq did. With Battie on the injured list, the depth of Cleveland’s big men takes a hit. The three headed monsters of Garnett, Cassell and Sprewell is so offensively potent, the Cavaliers would need a hot shooting night to trade baskets with such a team. Silas will probably stress defense because if those guys go unchecked, it would be a lot of pressure on James and Boozer to match baskets (which would force a third Cavalier player to step up in a major way).

Preview

Major storyline

The Kid vs. The King

KG: Will bring his all-around game to the table and try to harass Boozer and Z!

LeBron: In what could potentially be a statement game, how will James respond to this great challenge?

Boxscore

Cavs - 92
Wolves - 103

High Men:

Cavs - McInnis (21), Ilgauskas (18)
Wolves - Garnett (35), Sprewell (24)

Sorry for the late update. Oh, where are the other Cavs fans? =(

The Cavaliers played very game until a 12-4 run in the 4th quarter marked by the Wolves getting hot from downtown. Each loss hurts but the Cavs competed well.

Yeah this loss hurt. But on the plus side, a lot of the competition lost as well. So hopefully they didn't lose too much ground.

That Lakers game loss really hurt.
