Olympics: Lebron?

Quote:
LeBron James wasn't selected as an All-Star reserve as a rookie, but he could be in line for a nice consolation prize.

A spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

James is a favorite of Team USA coach Larry Brown and has responded to his All-Star snub by leading Cleveland on a surge that has taken the Cavs from the lottery into sixth in the Eastern Conference. Support for James' inclusion on the Olympic squad is sure to grow as a result.

"LeBron's name has been discussed, but, as of now, he has not been extended an invitation," NBA vice president Stu Jackson, the league's liason to USA Basketball, told ESPN.com's Marc Stein on Wednesday.

What are his real chances?

I thought he was an injury away from being on the team last summer.

His versatility really would be useful. But I think what gets him on the team is his attitude. And I think Larry Brown would love to get to coach him.

I think the attitude thing is why Lebron might go ahead of a lot of people, not the least of which is Melo. There have been a lot of rumblings about Melo being too arrogant. Where as you only hear about Lebron's proffessionalism. I think at the end of the day, all other things being equal(and I don't think they actually are, but some think that way) Lebron's attitude is the seperation.

The Olympic team definitely needs a guy who can play under pressure, with no ego, and can do what ever he is asked to do on the court.

I've been saying forever that he would be perfect for it and it's a no-brainer. I thought it was only a matter of time, and I think if he wants to do it (and I'd be surprised if he doesn't) he'll be there. It's a perfect fit. I don't know if you could find another player as versatile, unselfish, and talented as he is besides KG, and he'll be so physically dominant in international competition. In the qualifying tournament, Vince Carter played some time at the 4 spot... well imagine LeBron at the 4 spot. Yeah.

It's a great idea, I'm surprised they haven't come to it earlier. He'll help bring some of that original dream team excitement back. Most of all I just want to see him play with those other great players, especially Duncan and KG if he accepts too.

Defineitly, he should have one of the last 3 remaining spots along with KG and Brad Miller (not Shaq).

Lebron james Or Nick collison?? Hmmmm Its Hard...

Lebron james will be on that team and if he is not it is a damn shame he is by far in the top 10 players in the world

Imagine the Starting line up for the USA team

PG: LeBron James (Jason Kidd wont play with that knee)
SG: Allen Iverson (Kobe Bryant if he can get past Jail)
SF: Tracy McGrady (Vince Behind him
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Tim Duncan
