Cavs vs. Jazz (3/19/04)

Utah (34-34) at Cleveland (31-36)
4:30 pm PT, 7:30 pm ET
vs.
Preview

The Cavaliers have won 7 games in a row and meet the well-coached and interesting Utah Jazz. When these teams met earlier in the year, Big Z got into a scrap and was ejected from the game, along with James who injured his ankle. It was that win, without 2 of their big guns, that got Cleveland to wake up and play better for the rest of the season. Silas will tell his team the importance of not only the last meeting of the teams but also tonight’s battle as well. The Jazz will sport a different look this time around, as the team has traded Stevenson and acquired Giricek. With the lower half of the Eastern Conference playoff race remaining tight, let’s hope Cleveland wins to maintain or help additionally solidify their position.

Will Cleveland stay focused and win again at home?

I have heard McInnis hurt one of his arms and Silas wants him to take a few games off. But Jeff said he might try and play anyways. If this rumor is true, losing the floor general would be tough and force other Cavaliers' players to step up. But let's hope Jeff really is okay and if he plays tonight, isn't rendered ineffective by pain.

TyGuy> Consider it done! ^^V

It's offical, McInnis is indeed sitting this game out and Ollie will replace him in the starting line-up.
Go Cavs!

End of 1st
Cavs - 17
Jazz - 25
----
LeBron James is sick and has trouble breathing. So he had to come out of the game and go to the locker room to get help. With Jeff not playing and LeBron leaving the court, the Cavaleirs unraveled. Big Z got 2 fouls (one of which was questionable) and it was an ugly quarter. If anything, I'm thankful the lead isn't bigger than it is.

I was wondering what the deal was with the Cavs and why Lebron was going in and out.
Sounds like this one is going to be another uphill battle. Just like the last time they played Utah.

Halftime
Cavs - 39
Boozer: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist
Ilgauskas: 8 points, 2 rebounds
Jazz - 47
Kirilenko: 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
Bell: 10 points, 3 rebounds
----
Cleveland has played terrible yet are not totally out of the game. The key in this game is offensive rebounds, which the Jazz have an abundance of, getting 3-4 shots on some possesions. LeBron still seems winded easily and may not see much action in the second half. The Jazz are getting good mid range jumpers from screens. While the Cavs seem a bit disorganized. If the Cavaliers can pull this one out, it would be a defining moment. With stars out of the game and others playing terrible, it would be easily to give up. Boozer is playing great but he'll need a little help to pull this off.

End of 3rd
Cavs - 65
Jazz - 68
----
The Cavaliers are fighting back. They managed to tie the game a few times but the Jazz would come back. Cleveland scored more points in the 3rd than Utah and let's hope they can outplay Utah in the 4th. It's a winnable game, despite all the poor play.

Boxscore
Cavs - 88
Ilgauskas: 24 points, 4 rebounds
Boozer: 21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists
Jazz - 97
Bell: 23 points, 4 rebounds
Kirilenko: 21 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists
----
From Utah's standpoint, it's always good to steal an away game. But for the Cavs, this game hurts. Each time the Cavs got within 2 points or tied the game, the Jazz distanced themselves again. Sloan runs a beautiful offense, his system is something to be admired. The Cavs have to regroup fast because they play Detroit on Sunday and the lower half of the Eastern Conference playoff race is still tight. Hopefully, James will recover from his sickness and McInnis' shoulder will recover, allowing him to play.

Talk about a game where everything seemed stacked against them.
Tough game to lose. Now they are tied with Miami and behind New York.

Did James come back into the game, whats the update, and with Clev lost it helps the heat by being tied with the Cavs...should be a big 2 game series in a couple of weeks
