Mack continues to lock down the state of Texas. I'm not much of a star guy, but there are a few guys in this class that are currently committed to the Horns(DeAires Cotton, Darius Terrell, and Adrian Phillips that will probably end up as 4 stars, McCoy might end end up as a 4 star also), Ahmad Dixon probably will end up as a 5*, and if Texas gets commitments from Reggie Wilson, Jackson Jeffcoat, and Darius White that will add 3 more 5*'s to the mix.
This class is looking like it could end up as one of the best ever, and will certainly rival the Texas 2002 class(VY's class) that was considered one of the best all-time classes. Seastrunk is a who knows what he's thinking kind of guy, he could very well end up at Texas, but I think he'll end up at LSU. Jordan Hicks is a guy they could get from OOS, he's said he grew up liking Texas, he wants to come to Texas, but Tressel usually locks down Ohio and they are making up ground.
How many is Texas looking to take? I would imagine you would take a commitment from Jeffcoat Jefferson, and Lache Seastrunk no matter what. Who do you expect to finish the class?

those two, darius white, jordan hicks, and jake matthews are among the top of the list of guys they're still looking at.
i figure texas probably ends up with around 25 or so in this class.
The numbers could work out, with tranfers/medicals/gray shirts, that we actually take 26 maybe even 27 this class, if the guys Texas wants, want to commit. Ross Apo and Dominic Espinosa, both might actually take gray shirts, which would allow for Texas to sign 2 more players, right now its looking like 25 maybe 26.
With Demarco Cobbs all but out of the picture(says Texas is his dream school but can't seem to get down to make a visit, although he's able to visit LSU and other places, seems odd) and Trovon Reed a very, big longshot, don't be surprised if Texas offers DeAndrew White after the summer, coaches want to see his grades from spring and summer, if he shows the improvement they are looking for he'll get an offer and will almost certainly commit.
Texas is supposed to get 2 more commits by the spring game or maybe a little after the spring game. I think most believe Darius White is a lock to commit in the near future and a lot of people are feeling Jeffcoat may want to wrap up things early and focus on getting ready for next season, although some feel Matthews may pull the trigger on a commitment soon as well.
Darius White will commit by the end of April. Unless something really bad happens on his visit next week I will say he will be #22 by the end of April, if not earlier, wouldn't surprise me if he's #22 a little after next weekend(the Longhorns spring game).
4* QB Blake Bell to Oklahoma. Is going to be the next Bradford/Jason White level QB for them if he can turn his physical abilities into production. Strong arm with a 6'6" 200+ pound frame. Great get for the Sooners.
4* OT Robert Crisp to NC State. With Tom O'Brien's reputation with OL he could end up one of the best OL in this class.

Damn Texas is bringing in a damn good haul. If you can land Jeffcoat, and Seastrunk you guys should end up with the top class.
ND should be getting a couple of commitments during the spring game. David Amerson a safety from NC could pull the trigger, Kyle Prater could, and Illinois commit Corey Cooper very well could switch to us. He was going to switch if all went well at Junior Day a couple of months ago but he wasn't able to get transportation. Everyone will also get a better idea of their chances in the Nick Montana sweepstakes after the game.
Sooners got Bell, and its a great pickup for them, but I think their staff wanted Connor Wood more, he was their #1 QB target and the guy they wanted to build the class around, but getting Bell is a great move, if they can do some work on Cobbs and get him to stay in state that'd be another big win for them b/c all signs point to him heading to SC.
White still hasn't committed, and apparently wants to take visits to Okie State and Tech, the other places where both his other teammates(Rashad Favors and Dominique Sanders)have offers as well and are the places they are most interested in(I think A&M and some other lower tier schools have offered both of them as well). Don't think there's any reason to worry though, as long as he his taking visits with his teammates and not by himself. If he ends up deciding playing at a lower tier school(Tech and Okie State are great programs and they are on the rise but they are not TEXAS)and playing with his friends is more important than going to his "dream school" and potentially playing for conference and national titles, then so be it and best of luck to him, he's gonna have a great career wherever he goes.
I really like Texas' chances with Jeffcoat as well, doesn't hurt that he and Wilson became pretty tight during their visits to Austin and its been very, very quiet on the Jeffcoat front the past few weeks.
I'm not holding my breath on Seastrunk, seems like its gonna be a NSD decision and no point getting worked up over every little bit of news on the kid.
If they can land Matthews and Hicks and/or Nelson, this might be the best class Mack has ever signed, and thats saying something when you look at the 2002-VY led class.
Thanks for the Info! It matches what I have been hearing regarding both Seastrunk and Jeffcoat. Texas just continues to bring in filthy talent every year.
Yeah seems like Mack has pretty much mastered early recruiting. Next step is to start landing some of these out of state guys they go after. I mean its usually only 3-4 guys every year which so the odds aren't in his favor, but getting Hicks, probably top or one of the top LB's in the nation, out of Ohio, a place where a lot of LBs are produced, and away from Ohio State, a school known for producing great LBers, would be a huge win for Mack.
I wish ND had a shot with Phillip Sims a QB from Virginia. He is the best QB in the class.
Hell, I wish VT had a shot with Sims. Heard about him for last 2 yrs now. But Oscar Smith HS kids ALWAYS get steered away from Tech. Greg Boone is the like only one who crossed that. It also doesn't help that our offense has been crappy for awhile now.
I've heard before that he'll wind up in the SEC somewhere. Haven't heard anything recently though.
