Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
My facebook feed is filled with pro Paterno statuses right now. One says the board of direct can go **** themselves. More than one says "well the board wanted to get rid of him since 04." Another person wants to riot.
If they're getting rid of Paterno, McQueary needs to go ASAP.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
I'm glad none of the Penn State fans/alumni i know have tried to defend this. I don't know how anyone could see a child rapist every day at work and just go about their day like it doesnt matter. Absolutely disgusting.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
I REALLY don't know why Paterno is getting so much support from Penn State. **** that. The guy has a duty to report TO THE CORRECT people. The fact that the AD didnt fire the guy tells me that A. Paterno didnt indeed inform the AD. or B. He stuck up for the guy. I can't believe that not one person in a group of people wasnt like 'hey.. this guy is ****ed up and needs to be put away'.
then again... looking at the support he is getting and the riots.. maybe my generation is full of morons (unfortunately a legit option)

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
The next football game Penn State is involved in should be next year. Shutter this program like SMU did in 1987...that was for far less reprehensible behavior.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
Reading these convoluted statuses on my page mad because of JoePa while not acknowledging the kids is kind of pissing me off
I just don't see how there's anything close to a justification for what Paterno did. Any kind of argument otherwise is an admission of ignorance |

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
It's a bunch of idiots who are putting football ahead of real life because they aren't personally involved. Stunning lack of empathy.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury
Sorry my post wasn't clear, I didn't mean to imply that it would apply to Paterno. It would apply to Spanier, Curley and Schultz. The latter two screwed themselves by lying to the grand jury, but if this were discovered within two years all three could've been charged for not reporting the incident.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
I just can not understand why you would think you could get away with covering this up. As I understand it pedophiles are sick and are pretty likely to go on doing this until they are caught. Unless this guy gets away with it forever you are going to be caught in the lie. Only reason I can imagine is that they were covering up for something they did or did not do before the incident(s) they covered up. It is just colossally stupid and there just isn't that much you could possibly gain from doing it. Of course you really never heard about a lot of really brilliant criminals, the ones in the news always seem to have done things they were very likely to be punished for.

Re: Penn State AD charged with perjury; Joe Paterno fired
The outrage over Paterno's firing is absurd. The fact that he though it would be appropriate to finish out the season in the first place shows how disconnected with reality he actually is.
If Sandusky was allowed access to more children on Penn State's campus (and it sounds like he was) after Paterno was told about the 2002 rape, that makes Joe a borderline accomplice. |
