Re: Heisman Thread 2011

The only arguments you can make for Richardson are "the eye test" (which is bullshit, that has nothing to do with who the best player is) and the "Most Valuable Player" (most important to his team).

Tell me ATL, since you voted Richardson #1, how big of a dropoff is there to Eddie Lacy? Do they go 10-2 or 9-3 with Lacy as the starter? Of course not. Lacy averaged 7.5 yards per carry to Richarson's 6.0.

Re: Heisman Thread 2011

I don't care how many TD's he scored you can't convince me that Ball is a better runner than Richardson. I'll get shit for being an SEC homer but that's how I feel

So what if he's not a better runner, his season was exponentially better.

Your beloved SEC eye test is flawed, for an easy example, see 2006 when the "eye test" said Ohio State and Michigan were clearly #1 and #2.

Re: Heisman Thread 2011

This is not 2006 and the Big 10 is a weaker football conference than the ACC.

Yea I know it's flawed.

So you would give Keenum a 3rd place vote before Luck or Barkley then? 5,100 yards 45 TD's 5 INT's his stats are exponentially better. But he doesn't pass the "eye test"

No because he's in CUSA. Sorry, but the middle and bottom of the SEC isn't better than the middle and bottom of the Big Ten. And even if it was, Ball had his best games against the best competition while Richardson did not.

I only brought up 2006 because everyone in America was convinced OSU and Michgan were the two best teams in the country. It was obvious. They both got crushed in their bowls.

Re: Heisman Thread 2011

They played roughly the same level of competition which is to say soft.

Quote:
The average rank of the 11 FBS rushing defenses Richardson faced is 64th. The average rank of Ball’s 12 FBS rushing defenses faced is 68th.

And Ball's stats are vastly superior. Is this how you defend your richardson pick?

Actually would put griffin ahead of Richardson but Ball behind both. Every time.

Re: Heisman Thread 2011

RG III officially wins it, 405 first place votes, 1647 total points.

Andrew Luck has 267 first place votes and was in second by about 200 points.

Surprisingly, they showed the voting breakdown by region and RG III won the southeast by a 100 points over Richardson.
