Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
Bama
LSU Oregon Those are the top 3, I really don't know outside of that. Clemson? Top 5? Not with that defense and Dabo as coach. I'm almost tempted to put Michigan in my top 5, but lord knows they are going to lose 2-4 games next year and get dismantled by Bama. Georgia could be top 5 as they have an extremely favorable schedule and a lot returning. Oklahoma could be up there too as the Big 12 should be pretty top heavy again. |

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
I just think LSU is going to keep most of their talent in school (relative term, they don't actually attend classes) while Bama will lose a lot to the draft. Clemson is more of a product of I couldn't think of another team I actually think will be great next year; ACC is weak, Sammy Watkins is sick. If they weren't Clemson, they'd have a shot.

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
I've learned my lesson. Not going to pick an ACC school to do shit until they prove it first. Not going to pick Georgia either. We suck. Belong in the 8-12 range.
1. LSU 2. USC 3. Oregon 4. South Carolina 5. Alabama (Think they'll end up lower than this, but isn't official yet all who will declare) Last edited by ATLien; 01-10-2012 at 08:07 AM. |

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
1. LSU
2. USC 3. Oregon 4. Alabama 5. South Carolina or West Virginia* *If WVU is still in the Big East. Of course the Big 12 is gonna be filled with bad defenses for them to exploit as well but I think they're gonna get stuck in the BE until 2014. SC's defense was pretty damn good, and they're bringing most of it back. Lattimore will be back and they have another top prospect coming in to replace Jeffrey at WR. The Sugar Bowl is definitely possible for them. Even with the Big 12 and Big Ten being way way down next year I still can't put an ACC team in the top 5.

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
i'd go with usc, lsu, oregon, alabama, and whoever is favored to win the big 12(so probably ou at this point).
not sure why anyone would say the big 12 is down next year. there will be 6-7 of the 10 teams ranked basically all year and whoever ends up at the top is going to have a pretty decent chance to play for the national title.

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
OU has to find a running game. Whaley was OK until he got hurt, their scholarship guys were terrible.
OkState has to replace Weeden and Blackmon, no easy task plus their defense sucks. Texas has no proven QB, although the defense should be even better in year 2 with Manny Diaz. Baylor is losing RG3. TCU is new to the conference- they're better than Utah was this year but there is still going to be an adjustment. KState will be in the mix but who knows with them. Someone could emerge but there's nobody that really stands out. Right now it seems like they're all just gonna kick the shit out of each other.

Re: Early Top 5 for 2012
Who knows with K-State? They've improved every year under Snyder and were perennial contenders for the Big 12 Title and top 5 finishers toward the end of his first reign at the school. He also recruits heavily from Jucos.
