Re: Heisman Thread 2012

The Big Ten is much better than the Big 12 and the SEC makes fun of us constantly for being weak.

there is no way that's a serious statement.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

You seem to be living in 2005. Texas and Oklahoma are not currently good at football.

And if you want to evaluate Honey Badger as a safety, then play him as a safety. He should be there anyway.

I'll throw a couple names out there, dark horses who haven't been mentioned yet -- Logan Thomas, Braxton Miller, James Franklin, Christine Michael

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

Tyler Wilson only threw for 24 TD's last year?

That's bad. I think I might remove him for that alone.

Lost his top 3 receivers, and Knile Davis will split votes if they have an unimaginable good season. More likely they lose 4 or 5 games.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

He got robbed. 39 TDs, man, 39!! AND he led the division in rushing! He's going to be the all time TD leader in NCAA history despite only starting for 2 seasons, and not have a Heisman. My only hope is to shame everyone over last year into giving him one of those career achievement Heismans in 2012.

Dayne might be what hurts him.

I also wonder if voters count some of those TDs against him or he's not flashy enough. How many TDs were scored from long runs or further out compared to goaline?

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

Ball scored from everywhere (probably mostly 20 yards and in)... what might hurt him is the perception that anyone can run behind UW's lines.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

First of all, he had 1923 yards and 6.3 yards per carry. He isn't Lorenzo White.

I count 22 from the 5 or closer.

Which is somewhat true, but there have been hundreds of better O-Lines in NCAA History better than 2011 Wisconsin and no one except Barry Sanders did that.

This year's line isn't going to be as good. Will he get punished for 20 TDs and 1500 yards? (Trent Richardson's stats, BTW in a weak division excepting LSU)

I agree, I'm just saying the list of 1,000 yard rushers since Barry Alvarez/Bert Bielema is pretty long (Brent Moss, Terrell Fletcher, Carl McCullough, Ron Dayne, Michael Bennett, Anthony Davis, Brian Calhoun, PJ Hill, John Clay, James White, Montee Ball)... and the number of guys on that list that had 1400+ rushing yards in a single season is undoubtedly greater than the guys that didn't. So we might have a reputation for RB numbers that hurts Heisman chances like some spread teams have for QB numbers.

Anyway, it is all going to come down to whether or not Wisconsin is in the national title hunt... if they are in the neighborhood I'm sure Ball will get plenty of consideration (assuming he's alright after that beating)
