Re: Heisman Thread 2012

And just thought I'd mention:

Montee Ball is now up to 8th in the nation in rushing with 816 yards and tied for 4th in rushing TDs with 11. Wisconsin seems a lock for the B1G Title game, so that gives him 6 more games before the ceremony. Assuming he stays at the same level of production, he will finish with 1515 yards and 20 TDs, and set the NCAA records for most rushing TDs, total TDs, and points in a career.

Here is the upcoming schedule:

vs. Minnesota
vs. Michigan State
@ Indiana
vs. Ohio State
@ Penn State
(and let's assume vs. Michigan for the Title)

Only Michigan State is capable of holding him under 100 yards, but Iowa's fullback Mark Weisman hit them for 116 this week in East Lansing. If Wisconsin wins the B1G title, he'll be back in New York, or at least should. When you add in the Bowl Game, he's only about 50 yards off the pace for 5000 rushing yards in his career which only 14 players have ever done, and most of them started as freshmen and sophomores (Ball was our third leading rusher his sophomore year).

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

lol. I don't know, it'd just be surprising if Ball won it after not winning it last yr after having that season.

RGIII lost 3 games, and still won it though.

As long as it isn't Geno Smith. I thought he was impressive until I watched how Baylor and Texas can't tackle. West Virginia's own defense, too.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

The Kansas State game will make or break Geno Smith's candidacy. If he can go 11-2 or even 10-3 with WVU's defense then he'll have definitely earned it. The Big 12's defenses pretty much all sucked last year too.

Weren't you calling for Montee Ball to be benched a couple weeks ago, Nim?

More like he didn't block me when I tweeted at him that he was a pussy for fumbling to lose the Nebraska game. Wasn't his fault, but I sent that thing before seeing a replay. He blocks for much less.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

I call bullshit on the whole Montee Ball first pick thing. I know for a fact Nim was once subscribed to a podcast labeled the David Stern Underground Draft Shenanigans School of Commisioneering. I have also been made aware that Hurricane Isaac was his personal creation and there is proof of him checking out a book on cloudseeding at the Bush Presidential Library.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

Alright, the season is winding down now, let's see some top 5 or top 3 lists. I find it funny that all of the front runners have fallen on their face this year, in addition to the second category of guys. All that is left is the darkhorses, a list that looks pretty damn good actually.

1. Collin Klein - Go Undefeated and the trophy is yours. The sad part is that if he misses next week's game @TCU and K-State ends up losing, I think he will lose the trophy as well. Even though all it will prove is how valuable he is to his team. Shame.

2. Kenjon Barner - Heisman type performance on Saturday night against USC. Now is 3rd in the nation in rushing and 1st in TDs. He's been out of most games at halftime too. Just needs to pad the stats and hope his defense allows some teams to keep it close long enough. If K-State loses, Barner leaps into the pole position.

3. Marqise Lee - Plays for USC which really helps his cause. Has been a stat machine in the second half of the season, but needs to continue to put up ridiculous stats. If he leads the nation in total yards he'll have a slim shot, but probably not more than a darkhorse even at this point. On the plus side, he is riding a really nice hype wave.

4. Terrance Williams - He has 80 more receiving yards than Lee and has played 1 fewer game. This guy is putting up ridiculous stats. If he maintains his current pace, and there's no reason why he shouldn't, he will cross the 2000 yard mark IN THE REGULAR SEASON. A 2000 is going to be hard to ignore, especially if K-State loses and Barner gets injured or something. 2 consecutive Baylor Heisman winners!?

5. Johnny Manziel - Braxton Miller this, Braxton Miller that. Manziel plays in the SEC West and has 1 fewer game played. Despite that, he is outpacing Miller's production with 800 more passing yards, more passing and rushing TDs, and a higher yards per carry average. If he puts up numbers on Alabama, he'll be in New York City, or at least he really ****ing should.

Just missed:

Manti Te'o: I'm sorry, but he's a defensive player without great stats and he doesn't play special teams. I can't give him the benefit of the doubt.

Braxton Miller - I just think Manziel does what he does a lot better. I don't care if tOSU is undefeated, they have played a horrible schedule.

AJ McCarron - Give me a ****ing break.

Geno Smith - Too much losing; only Big 12 team he has thrown for 300 yards against is Baylor.

Teddy Bridgewater - Same reason as Braxton. Really good production, but it doesn't stand out from the pack of top QBs.

Re: Heisman Thread 2012

Cameron... Manziel has almost as many passing yards, plus the running, plus the schedule. And at least you included Lynch; that dude leads the nation in rushing and his team probably should be undefeated.
